noticed a little leakage on the lower section of my fork. Running down I assume. I have been told you sometimes you a little crud around the seal inbetween seal n fork causing leakage. Remove dust cover carfully clean? Anybody have any experience with this Rather try the cheap fix before the expensive one. I relize forks are different Thanks

You've probably got a little dirt in your fork seal. I've had great luck with Seal Mates. I still have a set of new seals in my tool box that I ended up not needing. I would recommend trying em out. http://sealmate.net/ |

I ordered a Seal Doctor the other day. Haven't received it yet so I'm not sure how well it works yet, but I'm thinking it'll work better than the flimsy Seal Mate. http://www.riskracing.com/pages/Seal_Doctor_Page.html

Seal Dr sales person was much better looking than the other one from Seal Mate and seemed to know the diff between a dust and oil seal and didn't get confused (either that or she reads the script much better). Did I mention I would rather have her work on my seal? That's what I'm calling it today....  |

If you have some 35mm negatives laying around you can try those. It's worked a couple times for me |

Thanks try the 35mm thing if not check out seal mate site. Allways sucks living in Canada ordering stuff. On another note Cycle Canada did a nice article on the original Valk. Talked to the head of one of the Canadian chapters. Cycle Canada good magazine.

Cutting an approximate shape of a Sealmate from a plastic soda bottle will probably work better than film.

I took dust shield off. Which had a tear in it. Which was collecting gunk over the years. (probally the cause of leak). Cleaned that out Was going to put some sort of sealant on tear (changed my mind not sure what to use). Used the bottle idea without hock area (didn't want to tear anything ). Good amount of flued came out Put every thing back together. And neglected to move forks up and down. To reseat forks (dumb ass). probally low on flued Heading to dover toommorow. Oh well try again on weekend.

If your dust seal was split, I'd be willing to bet you won't be able to stop that leak without replacing the fork seal and dust shield. Do the on the bike replacement, so easy to do, I was amazed, took just over an hour a side and we did each side on different days and after riding. |

Any info on this site on the On Bike Fork Seal and Dust Shield change. I was looking in Valk Book on replacing seal Definatly more than hour job.
