If your just doing the u joint you can pull it without removing the swingarm. I've got 175,000 miles on mine and have never changed the swingarm bearings still don't have any play. I did the  u joint at 94k. Go to rattlebars.com for the info on u joint change made easy.

Its been awhile since I cleaned and greased the swing bearings, didn't see the need for a special tool. But, then again, never saw the need for one for the steer bearings either.

yup, that u joint sounded like a bad one in a '74 pickup!






caught just before it imploded, a little mess to clean up before greasing and installing the new one...

new drive shaft and pinion cup should be here this morning, or the stealer is removing the overnight charges Smiley Old pinion cup removed, snap ring pliers at the ready to transfer spring, oil seal etc to new shaft. Tap, tap, tap! Turning a tiger maple wooden mallet handle while I wait...
