more speedometer stuff...

Finally got around to checking further on my speedo problems. I was sure it was the speedo itself until I unhooked the cable, spun the front wheel, and got nothing. On further review, it seems that as it turns, the little blade part that the cable goes over in the sender moves outward as it rotates and stops rotating. Seems to me this indicates it's the sender on the front axle. Think this is something I can take care of at Inzane? Never had the front wheel off so I don't know how tough of a job it is...assuming I can get the part somewhere. part# 44800-MR1-003?

Unhook the cable at the wheel and spin the wheel. Does the little blade spin inside the part attached to the wheel? I lost my cable in KS 2 yrs ago and rigged it up to work till I got home. The bad thing is you will have no speedo or odometer. Time your gas stops right!

With the cable removed from the front wheel hub, can you twist the cable end? The cable itself may be broken.

Sorry, I should have referenced my previous post on the subject. Speedo quit a few weeks ago. Ordered and installed new cable. You know what happens when you assume...turns out it's not the cable. While I was replacing it, I thought the little blade thing was ok as I tried to turn it and it wouldn't turn. Had the cable off today to try and troubleshoot. Noticed that when I spin the front tire, the blade thing moves outward and stops rotating. I think this means the drive on the wheel is bad. Much cheaper than a speedo. No time to fix before leaving for Inzane. If I have to, I'll order the part and fix it when I get home.
