Yep, on Saturday anyways.
Here's a little ride report I had posted on the OK Valks board...
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, this is a long one...
I decided I was long overdue for a stop at the Blue Creek Cafe up in Colorado so I made a run up on Saturday.
I headed out of Los Alamos just before 8:30am with the temps in the mid 60's, under a beautiful clear blue sky.
Here's a shot of my brand spankin new ClearView shield that arrived last week. Never before touched by bugguts, gravel or other flying road debris. I got it put together and put on, light gray tint, 2 inches shorter to work better with this poor postured rider, and I'm all set to go. I couldn't mount my clock and thermo since the ClearView shields are thicker, I'm going to have to dig up some longer bolts. I sure did miss them both this trip I might add...

So I hit my usual stop of at the bend in the river - Rio Chama. I know, I know, same ole pictures. Right now RumbleBee is thinking to himself,
this is as bad as all those Blanca Peak shots...

A stop of just beyond the Abiqui Reservoir, taken along Hwy 84N.

Did I mention that the weather was perfect? This was taken along Hwy 160E.

At this point I know its not too much further, its just around the bend I can feel it, another favorite stop, Treasure Falls.

Watch for the dangerous wildlife in this area.

A bit further around the bend from Treasure Falls you come up on Wolf Creek Pass. There is almost always road construction going on, this time it was barely noticable.
These were taken at or around a scenic overlook area.

After Wolf Creek, continuing east along Hwy 160 you drop down into South Fork. Junction 149 - The Silver Thread. If you have never taken this stretch of hwy it is highly recommended. Unfortunately this wasn't going to be an overnighter for me so I was only getting a teaser this time out.
My destination -
The Blue Creek Cafe. This is a quaint little place in a beautiful spot. Scott, Raymond, Rhonda and Buzz can attest to this from a 2006 Tour we took thru here.

My treat for suffering thru this trip...

This is right across the hwy from the cafe.

It was time to decide; an un prepared overnighter or head on back the way I came. It wasn't easy but since I had to put in a few hours on Sunday, I had to head south... :'( Here's a few shots missed on the trip up taken along Hwy 149 on my return trip.

Coming out of the South Fork area I noticed the temp sign showing about 85. Clouds were starting to fill up the sky in several areas, white clouds that is which help with cutting the direct heat.

Here we're overlooking the Wolf Creek climb. I had to do this climb during a snow storm several years back, when I lived in Alamosa, in April on a return trip from Laughlin. Pucker factor in high gear, wasn't sure what kind of traction I'd get in snow and icey conditions, but that was another story.
Kind of a neat little road side waterfall which seems to pop out of nowhere.

Roughly another 150 miles and 200 or so photos later I find myself back on the overlook now climbing back up the Los Alamos hill. I grab a fresh bottle of water, take a seat on the guardrail and look back on my busy day.
ClearView?, Not anymore!

Time right about this shot, almost 7:00pm. I really did like the new shield height, not sure what the light tint did for me, maybe better against oncoming headlights at night?
Just a hair under 400 miles round trip. Looks like I averaged about 33 mpg this trip which is also a milestone for me.

Hope you enjoy the photos, thanks for looking.
