I've been toying with ideas on how to get my bike as quiet as possible without losing much (if any) gas mileage.

So far I've been thinking the following:

Easy Route: Just glasspack the baffles of my cobra 6-into-6 pipes.  Looks nice that way.

Harder/more expensive route: Get a stock exhaust and glasspack that sucker, and sell my Cobra's.  Also probably rejet back to stock :/

THEN I got to thinking....  Roll Eyes  Has anyone put a GoldWing exhaust on the Valk?  Has anyone even tried?  Am I the only idiot who actually wants a silent bike?

What are your thoughts?

I haven't heard of it. (No pun intended.) If you're used to 6-into-6 pipes then you might think that unmolested Valkyrie OEM pipes are darn near silent! I have to look at my tach to see if my engine is running when I'm around other bikes.

I'm not really used to it at all.  My ears are ringing after longer trips Sad

I used to ride a Suzuki C50.  It was a little 800cc v-twin, and the stock pipes on that were alright, although I would be fine with making even those a little quieter.

I have tried to go the opposite way . Put Valk pipes on my 1500 Goldwing. It wouldnt fit the GW .
I will tell you the GW headers are not chrome just black tube . They are shaped differently than the Valk headers . They exit into a collector box which fits undr the bike /acts as a crossover pipe . Then the mufflers connect to the collector box.
With your six pipes or even the stock set "if" you could cut them off and make a collector then adapt a set of mufflers from a Road King or Ultra Classic  that would be a nice sound . I have used HD take offs on my 1100 Goldwing.
I think if you could find a set of stck Valk pipes you might like that sound/tone.

If you have a Standard or Tourer I have a nice, unmolested, set of takeoffs. Feel free to PM me to discuss.

Would you be interested in swapping for my Cobras?  Or are you trying to sell to me outright?

I'd be very interested in doing a 1:1 swap with someone who has stockers.  My Cobras have some bluing, but are otherwise in perfect condition.

Thanks for the info folks.  Looks like I won't be able to do the GW exhaust on my F6C.

I guess the consensus is that stock pipes are pretty much as quiet as they come, yeah?  I've heard there is room to stuff those suckers with some glasspack too?

I have 6 into 6 Cobras and that's why I have the OEM takeoffs. I don't know how you would stuff glass into the stockers but somebody might.

Go with the stock pipes. I have an IS so mostly have tunes going, but all I hear from the bike on the hiway is the tranny.

Was looking at my '97 wing today and it looks like those MIGHT fit a Valk. As quiet as you can get. Undecided
I still prefer the OME I/S system. IMO, they are the slickest lookin' of all. Cheesy Wink
