I just replaced my headlight bulb with a Sylvania Ultrastar. I got it out of the package and installed in the headlight without touching it. Should I have cleaned it with alcohol anyway just to make sure it hadn't been contaminated from the factory? I haven't mounted the headlight assembly back on the bike yet so it would be easy to clean it if I should. Thanks for any replies.

Should be fine as long as YOU didn't touch it with bare fingers or put oil on it somehow.

Harv, knowing you, I'd suggest ya clean it before you put it in place and turn it on.

But how about someone touching it when it was boxed up at the factory?

I'd clean it just for sheets and grins to be safe.

Better safe than sorry.....   Ya know there is probably a disgruntled Osram/Sylvania employee randomly opening those machine handled bulbs and packages and rubbing them all over his body to get them coated with human body oils.   Grin
