The Blue Ridge Parkway starts just outside of Waynesboro, Va. ( it does'nt have a Hwy. # ) its 469 miles to Cherokee,NC from mile marker 1. The BRP is one of my favorites rides its beautiful . As far as speed I've done the 45 mph speed limit and I've pushed 85 to 90 mph with several members of the VRCC .It get's cold across the mountains even now in Aug. and come Oct. you can bet on it.

FYI you might want to check with the Blue Ridge Parkway folks...last weekend North and South of the Boone, Blowing Rock area the BRPWY was closed for repairs...Hopefully the work will be done by the fall.....but hwy 421 is a nice ride....Hope your trip is Grand..

Just rode the BRP from Maggie Vally up toward Waynesboro.  We were probably off the BPR from Asheville to Boone more thanwe were on it.  We were stopped a few time and had to wait for an escourt vehicle to take us thru some of the construction.  We had to get off the Brp a couple of times and take detours through some slow roads and rural areas some of it was quite out of the way.  It slowed us down so much that we jumped over to 81 and made up some time.  I would really check with the Park Comission to see what is detoured. Other than that A beautiful ride even in the Rain!

probably around 20 bikes and we rode from Waynesboro to Cherokee in two days.  Not a problem to ride that far, just how many stops you want to make. There are a lot of interesting and beautiful things to see along the way.  But the ride is one of the best.
