Hi Everyone,

A friend / co-worker of mine spends a fair amount of time performing volunteer work for the All Star Equestrian Foundation.  This non-profit Foundation is dedicated to providing safe therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with disabilities (primarily kids).  Some of the Disabilities that can benefit from therapeutic riding include, but are not limited to: Cerebral Palsy,  Spinal Cord Injuries, Spina Bifida, Multiple Sclerosis, Mental Retardation, Down Syndrome, Brain Injuries, Stroke, Autism, Learning Disabilities, and ADD/ADHD.

As a fundraiser, he has put together a modified poker run for Saturday, August 29th.  It's his first one, but I'm impressed by the level of sponsorship and organization he has already achieved.

The 83 mile ride will start in Mansfield at Mansfield's Town Park (500 N. Main) at 9:30 am, and end up at Renegade Motorcycles in Grand Prairie (I-20 and Great Southwest Parkwy). Registration is from 8 to 9 am.  The sponsors have provided some real nice prizes.  He's also arranged a couple bands and will be providing T-Shirts to all.

This should be a good ride and I'm confident that all that attend will have an excellent time.  Unfortunately and regretfully, I won't be able to ride (Nora and I have a unbreakable prior commitment for that day).

Cost is $20 per rider and $20 per passenger.  For more information about the ride and the foundation, please go to http://www.ridefortheriders.org.

Sounds like a good ride!

I've added it to the calendar, BTW ANYONE can add stuff to it. Also, the top post on the Texas board has a link to our regional calendar. Check it out!

These are neat programs. I have a friend who works with Equine Angels and it's an awesome program for kids with serious challenges.  I'm in a class on the 29th, but if it changes, I'll be glad to ride.

Great option for those not going to Jefferson or Minnesota.  Thanks Chauffer.
