Hey Folks,

Okay, I already have the Mutazu MU hard bags on my 98' Std Valk and they were working just fine until one of the brake light elements went out on one of them.  These things are terribly designed as far as changing a bulb out.  I removed the chrome outer ring, double-sided tape, screws from the inside and replaced the bulb.  However, when I pulled it out, the 1147 light socket got damaged somehow and created a grounding issue.  I've taken it apart, re-soldered the connections, but this thing is so cheap it will just blow 10A fuses.  I know that is my culprit and it needs to be replaced.  My question is, since Mutazu won't just sell me a new bulb socket, (have to buy the whole lighting kit), is there another option I can use and wire in?  I don't mind dremeling out the hole or rigging it somehow, just wondering if anyone else has these bags and if there are any ideas.  I find the plastic socket housings with 3 wires here and there online, but cannot find the 1147 bulb housings anywhere. I like the way they are set up currently:  running, turn, brakes (dual element bulbs).  Wouldn't mind going to LED, though I'm sure this is more of a hassle than it's worth and they aren't as bright.  I can add pics later if this would help.

I also put on their DB (VIP) trunk that I had laying around before a trip to AR last weekend, and couldn't get the wiring right.  I've got their "schematic" that they email to me today and have a Clymer manual, however if anyone else has wired one of these before and knows of a better way of going about it, that would be great.  I've probably blown 8 10A fuses just trying to get it right.  I haven't touched any of the other wiring, so I doubt there is an exposed ground somewhere.
DB Trunk wiring instructions:
Wiring Instruction Color Code:
GREEN------------GROUND (-)
GREEN/YELLOW-----------SOLID SPOILER BRAKE LIGHT (+)
BROWN-------SPOILER FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT (OPTIONAL) (+)
BLUE-----------------RIGHT (PASSENGER SIDE) TURN SIGNAL (+)
RED---------------LEFT (DRIVER SIDE) TURN SIGNAL (+)

Thanks!

THis might sound obvious, but If your blowing fuses there is a short somewhere or you are connecting something wrong. The instructions seem straight forward,, connect each item one at a time and find which is blowing the fuse.

A blown fuse can be a direct short to ground or over load of wiring used to prevent damage to the bike wiring/fire.

here is a wiring scamatic.

Yes, I considered that there is a short and as mentioned I tracked it to the actual bulb housing/socket for the right saddle bag.  Since I can't find an exact replacement, I picked up a new pigtail assembly and maybe that will fix the problem.

I'll dive into it tonight and hopefully get it all working.  I bought a flat 4-way trailer plug to make using the trunk much easier in the future.

Thanks
