Livin' the Valk, er, F6B life in Central Florida.

Silver Springs, Florida

« on: June 16, 2014, 03:23:47 PM »

A monumental motorcycle decision has been made at the Brown household. Over dinner at Harry's last Thursday Kim & I discussed what has been on my mind for a long time.
We are selling all three of our Valks & Kim's Shadow. We just don't need 4 bikes with all the expense & upkeep that it takes. The Valks are getting a bit long in the tooth & finally there are some good alternatives.
Don't panic we are not getting out of the bike game that we love so much, it is just that the time has come to update & thin out the fleet. The F6B has been tempting me since I saw how homely the new Valkyrie has turned out & it is the logical successor to our beloved Valkyrie Tourers for me anyways. Kim has expressed a liking to the CTX1300 & pending test rides that may be the way she goes. We'll see.
Moral of the story here is any & all of our Valkyries along with the related parts & pieces I have accumulated are for sale. I will post here on the Florida board for first dibs.
This has been a mentally agonizing decision for me as I'm sure you guys know how attached I have become to our bikes.

Eddie, did you ever figure out the problem with the one bike? Do you have it running right now?

No I haven't.
Haven't gotten back on it yet, house projects, work, etc. have been in the way. While chasing down a good deal for my F6B I have received quite an education about the value of our "classic" Valkyries. It seems the high mile Valks are just about worthless to the dealers.
$2K is the top dollar offered for my '97 even if it runs perfect. The 115,000 miles spooks the hell out of the dealers. I will probably sell the bags, windshield & Ultimate seats from the '97 & then trade it in as a Standard model after I get it running. From what I've seen the set of bags, complete w/s & used Ultimate KBB set could easily fetch $2k by themselves leaving a stock seat equipped Standard whole to sell.
On the other hand a clean low mile {34,000} Valk Tourer like Kim's will bring much better money. I'm probably going to put stock seats back on it & sell it. I will then have a complete Ultimate LowRider set of 4 to sell separately.
I think I already have Kim's SS750 sold.
I will be getting back on the '97 soon. It will run right before I sell it! Cool

Congratulations Eddie cooldude That's my choice and we have discussed it also.
We dine at Harry's on the square...every time we visit with my folks in Ocala. We should meet there next time we are up.

When I sold my Interstate, it was listed on Craigslist. I was contacted by brokeer/dealer  from the Lauderdale area. It was cash and retail price. It was picked up and I was told that it would be sent to Russia. I am sorry, I don't have his name.

I might be interested in the KBB seat if it fits my 98 Tourer? Don't need bags obviously.
