While flipping through the pages of Hemmings Motor News, I came across a vendor who can triple chrome plastic to a showroom finish. I immediately thought this would be an inexpensive solution to the wrinkled alternator cover issue that plagues the Valk.

Forget it. This vendor wants $250 to re-chrome the part!

So the search continues...

I'm either driving a Valkyrie or an Airbus... it just depends on the day of the week.

I've been riding with my wrinkly cover for a dozen year now and it has not got any worse in all that time .

As long as the wrinkled chrome stays intact and doesn't crack I think it will last forever.

So used to it being wrinkled, stopped bothering me a long time ago.

There is another option, and it's not an expensive one. If your cover is in good shape mechanically, but your chrome is wrinkled, sand off the chrome, prime it and paint it with color match paint. It will look just fine and match your bike. You'll find that when the chrome wrinkles, it will break off pretty clean leaving a grey, primer looking plastic underneath.

Ricky:

I'm like you, had a wrinkled cover for years.  No one has ever said anything about it.  My wife on the other hand is starting to get a few wrinkles.  I'm thinking of sending her to the Virgin Islands to get recycled.   Grin Grin Grin
