I think we all know what a bummer the healing process can be, especially when one is very limited to everyday activities we all take for granted. I stopped by and chatted with Bert Thursday and he sure is a trooper putting up with the pain and lack of mobility he is not accustomed to. Although his spirits are high i think a visit by some of his fellow Valk addicts would do him a great deal of good. He is all for a gathering and seeing some happy faces. So who can make a journey to cheer up a healing Valkaholic ? There are some local venues for eating as well, i have wanted to eat at the "Dam Diner" for some time. Let's say meet at the Diner about 10:30 or 11, eat and retreat to Bert's. Hopefully we can get him in the Diner as well. All of this is subject to change as needed. Dam Diner. https://plus.google.com/108235863881380806964/about?gl=us&hl=en

I would like to make it, just got to get my work schedule changed a bit. Are you talking about the Dam Smoker in Eustis, on route 19 ?

[/quote] Not that one but this is it https://plus.google.com/108235863881380806964/about?gl=us&hl=eneverything is very flexible, even if more people wanted to go 2 weeks later after the 4th on Saturday 7/12 that would be fine too. Let us know what works for you.

Love to do it if I can get the old hip to settle down. Going to try and get another shot in the butt this week, if the dr. says it's too soon then I'll have to ask for a new prescription of pain meds. This thing is a real PITA....literally.

Grab an old piece of 35mm film. Cut a circular notch out of one side forming a small hook shape at the end. Slide the film in around the fork and under the seal and pull up and out with the film. You may dislodge whatever is stuck in the seal and eliminate your leak. Has worked for many many folks.
I can go tomorrow. Just let me know what time to be there.

See ya's at the Dam Diner....10:30am....you guys are killin' me! 301 to Chauncy road, 54, 98, 471, 301, Ocala rd, etc.. I like to bypass Leesburg 441 traffic as much as possible. I know it's late notice, Bay area folks want to meet up, let me know.... I'll be at the usual fuel/break stop at 50 & 471 from 8:45am and leave at 9:00am. James

Well, the Dam Diner was a pretty good place to eat breakfast this morning. Good sweet tea as well. Bert looked great...except he is walking like my 96 year old Uncle did for some reason. And, he has the coolest stitch work just below his knee. Looks like a lattice or Jacobs Ladder thing a ma jig. Super thick tape looking stitching there. We have to get him to shoot a picture of it. If I would have thought of it I would have. He will be almost guaranteed to set off every metal alarm in the airports while being screened through now. I heard Metallica is his new favorite band? Seriously....he looks great and is in super spirits and is WAYYYY ahead of schedule in the healing process so far. We went up to his house and enjoyed some free AC for a while until Eddie showed up and made us get up and to take a look at his new ride. Very nice. SixLow's wife Liz jumped on the Bumble Bee up at Bert's....I think she looks right at home on that Valk if the smile is any kind of indicator??? Think there may be a hint to Mike here?? Eddie took us on a ride over to his house to see his stash of bikes and parts and promptly emptied Mike's wallet while we were there! Drooled over his Valks as well. Sorry Eddie! All in all a great day. I think I saw someone taking photos while at the Damn restaurant??

The Diner was a good call today! The morning ride up from Tampa was very enjoyable, and the steed knew it was back on home grounds here in Florida. There's just something you feel between your machine, the tires and familiar road. The run today was only a hundred miles each way but after a couple of weeks of northern riding what's a hundred miles to grab breakfast and partake in some great company and tire kickin'. Met up with Bert, and his brother from Hickory, NC, followed by Pappy, Mike and Liz (Sixlow). After chow a trip down the road to Bert's we shared road story's and waited for our favorite frozen Floridian Tropic Traveler (Eddie) to arrive for a close up inspection of his beautiful new F6B. I think you can tell a good mating by the riders smile. As the photo shows, Liz is looking really well appointed on the Bumble Bee and looks like she may be ready to navigate her own set of wheels in the future. While The other's headed over to Eddie's for parts procurement I had to set sail homeward south as impending sky's loomed toward the south. One cool down stop back at the Sunoco at 50 and 471 and onward toward home. A little cooling rain all of a mile at the bottom of 471 felt pretty good. Dry and warm on home, followed by a fantastic dinner and a much needed cool off shower and power nap. All in all, those unable to attend were missed as always, and Pappy talked about them and made funny faces they couldn't see...just kidding! We have a very special group here in Florida and that was brought up by several other VRCC members while we were all at Inzane. Let's keep it that way, help and support each other the best we can. Ride safe! See ya down the road! James
