bike has been running a little rough, little miss at idle and at about 2800 rpm it sounds like it is starving for fuel. My initial thoughts were slow jets so I've ran some cleaners through it. I used both seafoam and b 12  with absolutely no change. With the reading I've been doing I've seen guys have these same problems which had turned out to be vacuum leaks or a bad petcock. I picked up some new intake o-rings, vacuumed caps, and vacuum line. When I removed the intakes I got to looking things over and thought I might just want to go a little farther and De smog, I've got the time and knowledge. I decide to go the way of the red eye retro fit method which only removes the main components and leaves the chrome lines in place (I kind of like them) and is completely reversible if ever needed. I also removed the float bowl drain lines, I figured if I want to drain the bowls the connectors are easy enough to access. While disassembling I found that the air box connections to the whole left bank of carbs were loose, and yes the vacuum side of my petcock is bad. I'm going to inspect the rest of the rest of the rubber in the petcock and if it is okay I'm just going to convert it to manual for now. I always turn off the petcock with The key anyway but I do see a pingle and an electronic shut off in my future. I've watched the video on bench sinking the carbs and with the intakes off you can see to do this quite easily with the carbs on the bike. All my carbs looked to be set identically except for #1 which was just a little out. I have also had a little float bowl gasket leak on #6 that has been bothering me and at this stage it looks like the only thing I have to do to pull the carb bank is to remove the fuel enrichment and throttle cables. While I am in there I'll inspect everything but I do think I'm going to throw some 38 slows in it. I do have one question. What 38's do people like and where is the best place to get them? Oops that was 2 questions.

I would recommend the electronic fuel shutoff while the airbox is off, much easier whether you  go manual or Pingle or OEM petcock.

#38 slow jets are not needed, and the Valkyrie engine runs rich as it is with #35 slow jets.

All the praises about #38 slow jets is normally due to the fact that the owners/riders after

changing to #38's now are tending to the engine requirements more assiduously, therefore

improving the final results. Meaning: It's not because of the jets.

Okay, I know this is not the topic, but I hae to ask. Where did you ge the horns, do they need a compressor, how much were they and are they Valk specific (in other words, bolt right up without drilling, welding, etc.)? I have been looking for some for my Valk due to the OEM horn being wimpy and have not found any I like. But yours look great! Shocked

they came on the bike, they are rivco's, small compressor about the size of a red bull can but a little shorter. Mine is zip tied to the frame under the right side cover. Someone on our sponsor page sells them but I forget who.

Search for bigBF's quad horns. They're hidden under the swingarm and are louder.

And, they last longer with NO maintnenace required.     Anyway I have not touched my BF Quad's since Bill (BF) installed them.     Bill put them on one year as he was coming home from InZane.    Good LOUD horns.

Go to the 38 slow jets by all means. You wont notice any difference in mileage.

I was wondering if there would be any mileage loss. You didn't notice any?

None. Most anyone who has done this will tell you the same as well.

Received my vacuum caps and float bowl gaskets today from red eye, ordering 38 slows and upper radiator hose tomorrow morning (pay day).  Radiator hose looks a little dry and is right out in the open and real easy to get at right now. I figure 14 dollars will buy a lot of piece of mind.
Can you spot the bad bowl gasket?
If my parts are shipped in a timely manner I'm hoping to have her back on the road by the end of next weekend.
