Saw my new ABS Valkyrie at the dealer's today. Looks pretty smart! Prolly pick it up this Friday.
Have some 'add ons' coming. Tall windscreen, Utopia backrest, Iron Braid grips (love 'em), and Electrical Connection's ion cowl fogs. Looking forward to all these ... and maybe louder mufflers?
I'm wondering what everyone with the new Valkyries are doing to carry things on the bike?
There's no bags like the Wing and F6B ... the tank is plastic (lots of plastic on this bike!) and a tank bag is out with the severe slope of the tank, too. The Honda plastic/leather? bags are pretty pricey IMO. I have some from my VTX that are like new, but doubt if they will fit on the Valk.
What are your ideas for packing things on this naked bike?

Luggage rack and passenger backrest With t bags would be your best bet. Also heard that corbin is making a set of hard bags, but they will be expensive.

Yes, Corbin is always pricey. Quality is often pretty good, tho. I was looking at something for 'everyday' carry ... like when one goes out for the day and needs to carry "stuff". Extra jacket / shirt, tire pressure gauge, cell phone cord, couple energy-fruit bars / water, gloves, sun glasses, sun screen, yada, yada. Day trip stuff. If I'm gonna tour, or go long, I'd take the Wing.

Yeah, Ed ... saw that place to store some smallish items. The tool kit takes up most tho.
I may try a 'tail bag' of some sort. Had one on the Concours for a while when I needed more storage.
Like me, Ed ... you have the Wing for more serious storage capabilities, eh.
Enjoy your photos.

Yah, tail bag strapped to rear seat would be an easy solution still not able to fit a lot of stuff inside since most tailbags are say 11x9x8 or thereabouts. I have 2 cheapos I picked up for about 25 bucks each that serve their purpose on my 250cc scooter. I've been known to strap both my tail bags one slightly smaller on top of the other larger one on bottom of the rear seat.

I bet the aftermarket catches up soon with different saddlebag options. If it was me, I would add the backrest and luggage rack option and then you can put any kind of small or medium size bag on that.

It's interesting that it comes with a toolkit. My new F6B didn't even come with one. When I asked my dealer about it he gave me an aftermarket one for piece of mind but I must admit that I never pulled the one out of my Interstate in the entire 13 years of ownership.

The tank itself may be steel (or not), but the tank cover is plastic, as is the door and chrome/plastic housing surrounding the door.
I think adding a rack and passenger backrest would solve the bag mounting issue, but I think the bike looks much better without all that .... naked is best IMO. But, still ... I'd like the quick option of tossing some sort of medium bag on it.

$600 for the bags seems about normal for side bags . I ordered the studded ones as why not The killer part was the brackets that are another $400 give or take as it s a diferent mounting style. Yes in advance after market would be cheaper Im looking at the short shield and maybe the back rest down the road. Pictures to follow someday if I ever get time to put it all on

My magnet sticks to the tank Really !!? I tapped on the tank and it sure sounded like Tupperware to me. ?? The shape of it is quite 'swoopy', too. Didn't think it'd be steel. But, I'll bow to Ed's magnets.

I found an unused Nelson-Rigg tail bag in my garage. Think I was going to use it on the Ninja I owned then.
Looks OK to me. Yeah, a naked bike looks better, but what to do with my glasses, tire pressure gauge, phone, hat, 'stuff'.
It's from 2005 and is the CL-150. It expands from it's 14"L x 13"W x 10"H. It was like $60 msrp, I'm sure I spent less from New Enough.
I took some photos, but I don't remember how to post them. I'll have to look.
Works for me !

I am hesitant to get saddlebags on my Valkyrie because I want to preserve the muscle cruiser lines of the bike. I bought a couple of coretech bags to use when I need them. The 12 leiter tank bag adhears very well, I use it a lot. I've been over 115 mph with it and no problems. hmm Ive tried to post photos of the bike but its no easy feat here. VRCC photo stash wont let me log in with my member name and pass, no idea what my member number is, cant find it in profile. Any suggestionshttp://vrcc.photostash.com/vrcc_36243/image.jpg

Let me try this photog of the bag on the back of my Valkyrie. It is actually a magnetic tank bag, but decided to use it lashed to the grab rails. Don't think it looks too bad and EZ access to glasses, gloves, water bottle, yada, yada.

That'll work, Bob ... the little tank bag is what I had on my C14 Concours & ST1300. I'd toss it into the trunk of the Wing with all the stuff in it. But, a mouse made a house in it couple months ago. But, it served it's purpose. And, it worked very well.
The back 'trunk' is a newer version. Think I gave that one to a friend. I like my new bag, altho I don't think it is still in production.
I do have some Honda leather saddle bags from the VTX1300/1800, but the brackets do not fit this VALK. I'll have to see how the new bag brackets look and fit ... maybe work with the bags I have in stock?

I'm not crazy about the strapping system on the tail bag, but until I decide to mount perminate saddlebags that will have to do. Also I read somewhere that its not a good idea to leave the tank bag on for extended periods of time. The earth magnets in the tank bag, if given long enough, can draw the metal particles in a metallic paintjob to the surfaace. Now what's considered an extended period of time? Days, weeks, months? I just take the bag off when I get to work or after after a day of riding just to play it safe.

I went the Saddlebags from Honda way. Tad overpriced but there are no other options out there at the moment for perfect fit. Sorry getting pictures to post or a link is harder than normal for a forum?/ but if you copy and paste ? https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=74ABCF6268B22B6C!1346&authkey=!AHC7B-MjxfRzgdk&v=3&ithint=photo%2c.jpg(FIFY... your link appears to have a re-direct that precludes remote posting; if you right click on the pic at your link, select view original, and use that link to post your pic... f6gal)

I must admit that the Honda bags look much better than my strapped on tail bag from another maker, m'friend. But, man ... are they pricey with the brackets and hook ups! You'd think that a couple pieces of metal and some bags would be $500 altogether, eh? But, your set up looks really nice.

I didnt think the bags were too crazy copared to other brand s for other bike they are about the same rip off., but they are up there its the brackets that are a total rip off. But I had some birthday money from the wife and gift card so that took a little chunk out of them . Ordered through ebay ,a vendor in Ohio which was almost couple Hundred less than the local stealer so still high . Now if they or someone comes out with a mid height shield like 16"....

I looked at the installation directions on the Honda site. The bags seem to be the same/same as other bags they tossed out ... just a bit different in design. The mounting points seem to be the same / same as the ones on my '03 VTX. Just different mounting brackets to the bag metal frames. This allows them to use all the same stuff. But, I could be incorrect. PN will tell. ?? Saving a couple hundred is good. But, still ..... $$$. BTDT couple times B4. Got stuff in the garage I don't use anymore. I saw something on the Honda site with a $1000 accessory deal. I couldn't make out what the heck they were pushing, but sent an email to my dealer to tell me what it's all about. Folks looking for something .. check out the Valkyrie site on the Honda Power Sports site. Maybe someone can tell me what the heck they are pushing. But, I think you did well. The bags look very nice IMO. I wish they were EZ off EZ on, tho.

The bags didnt take to long to put on as just a Allen head bolt and went on pretty easy. Now if the Stays and bags were quick disconnect like my Givi on the last bike . I could take the bags off in a couple min and the frames that held them away from the bike took a min to remove . but then I dsidnt remove the frames that oftenand still have the square metal boxes as it was a dual sport. Thanks again as I also think they came out well. course they should as about three months of bike payments

Nice pic of the saddlebags. I've been waiting to actually see a pair mounted. I like the look, time to start saving my pennies for a set I think.

Maybe from the rear end? And, from the 'high' side?

LOL Ill post links as the img thing is not working and Im posting the url between the [mg]V[/img I post just fine on most forums and some have a storage or the software that makes it harder than it needs to be . Maybe this forum will grow enough to have its own storage and we can then link to a pic we uploaded . Im good either way

Regarding these bags .... I was looking at the accessory page for the Valkyrie. The bag stays look like the ones I have on my VTX1300/1800.
I wonder if these are the same/same bags that can be used on other Honda bikes? And, maybe the stays are the same/same, too? With only the bike-to-stay bits different?
What do you think?
