Went looking for the set that should be in the left hard bag, nothing in the holder! Is there a better kit for A 99 Interstate? Or is the OEM best? Any suggestions on where to get it, H line etc. Thanks

The only tool in the whole kit you need is the one for adjusting the shocks. Otherwise for the others, I would just go to Sears or somewhere and pick up the rest, and you will have better quality tools.

Thanks for the suggestion cooldude I've searched for a list of sizes, as far as wrenches sockets etc, can't find anything. A set of metric gear wrenches & sockets W/ratchet, screw drivers, plug socket! anything special found to be a must?

Click here: http://cruztools.com/toolkits%202007.html and scroll down to "Metric". Good quality.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

MGM has 242,000+ miles and the wrench set has never been out of it's hiding place.   That is from Aug of 97 to date.......

If you make up a kit on your own, be sure to get a spark plug socket and try it out to make sure it fits down into the hole and over the plug.  Angry

I like the OEM toolkit. When I was desmogging, I had to cut down an allen-head wrench
to fit up into the tube on the bottom of the engine... later I realized that there was an
allen wrench in the OEM kit that fit up in there great...

I have an 00 I/S and from the Owner Manual here is the list of tools in the kit:

10 X 12 mm open end wrench
14 X 17 mm     "     "      "
8mm               "     "      "
5mm               "     "      "
spark plug wrench
standard/ Phillips screwdriver
screwdriver handle
pliers
pin spanner
tool bag

All of these are easily found in the nearby pawn shop or Habitat/Restore. Put all this in a small plastic box with some other tools/odds/ends/tire plug kit and you have a neat kit for rescuing stranded cyclists. I carry a AAA card and a credit card for my repairs.

I was lucky enough to get the complete tool bag (with tools) when I bought my "98". One of these days that stock tool kit will be worth something with the bike. But, I am a tradtionlist. If the original kit comes with the bike that is icing on the cake. Wink
Good job, alan. cooldude
