I would like to find some riders to go along as I pick off some more cities on Sunday.  My idea is to head our around 10am from Arlington and head northeast.  Looks like there is a Bear Creek, Post Oak and a Mill Creek in that area.

If any interest, tell me a meeting point off of 75 and I'll find you since I'm heading that way.

Maybe Daniel wants us to stop by Clarksville and see his new digs!  (Hint, Hint)

Anyone up for it?

We should be in Clarksville. Really need to get the massive hole I made in the upstairs wall back together (more or less).

There is some fantastic Italian food on the square in Clarksville...

How late is the restaurant open?

What is the best way to find your castle?

It's open at least through dinner unless it's changed since last week.

I'll pm the address and my cell. You can call and we can meet at the Italian Bistro (on the square, ya can't miss it) or come by the house.

ETA?

There is a gas station on the northwest corner of the McDermott exit off 75 in Allen.  I don't remember off the top of my head what flavor it is, but that would be a good spot for me.  Counter-proposals are welcome.  Unless I hear different, I'll shoot to be there around 10:20.  I'll try to drag Rose with me.

No counters so far so will look for you and Rose at McDermott.  It might be closer to 11:00 before I make it to that spot, coming from Arlington.  Send me an email with your cell and I'll let you know for sure on Sunday morning.

Do you have a route planned already?  I might want to join somewhere farther north, but not if it is as cold as they are saying it's going to be.

Nope.  I'm just looking on a map and heading there.  I'll have to put something together, but it's not that organized.  U turns will be expected.

I'll post something on this Saturday.

Ms. LemonDrop

Looks like we'll be heading up 121 to Bonham and a little more north to find a Post Oak of some kind.  Want to meet us at the intersection of 82 and 121 in Bonham around noon?

John

At 70mph in 34 degrees Fahrenheit, the windchill is 15 degrees Fahrenheit.  I'd recommend a helmet and gloves.  However, the temperature is probably going to be in the mid 40s, so you can probably just wear your swimsuit.

Speedo, Thalas'shaya and RainMaker met up at 11:15 in Allen and headed out to find Post Oak.  Our first target was a Post Oak that was 5 miles or so east of Ivanhoe, which is north of Bonham.   All went well until we got to County Road 2270 - it was crushed rock.  That lead to CR2265, which was switchback turns on crushed rocks.  That led to CR2260, which was grass and crushed rock. But then we got to CR2225, it was blacktop - for a while.  But we only had to go a short way to...... nothing.  No Post Oak. No buildings.  So, turned around and headed west on CR2225.  The blacktop gave out. The crushed rock got deeper and we did some power sliding with the Valks.  Eventually, got out of the gravel and stopped in Ivanhoe to evaluate our condition.  All was good except our Valks were filthy.  Then a guy drove up in a pickup and gave us a saddlebag latch.   It came from Thalas'shaya's bike, so she reattached it.  We thanked the guy and headed to Post Oak location #2 east of Paris.  FM1389 is a great road.  Just before entering Paris, stopped at a local cafe and got a big Chicken Fried steak lunch (we ALL had Chicken Fried Steak).  Then took the north loop around Paris to FM195. Took that to FM196, then FM1502.  FM1502 is another great switchback road.  After a few miles, we found POST OAK!  Not much to it - from one city limit sign, you could see the other.  Took a few pictures and then headed to Clarksville to see Daniel and Carey Meyer's new home.  Daniel and Carey gave us a full tour - it's an amazing place and when they are finished, it should be on home tours.  It's incredibly big, with high ceilings and the most incredible molding around doors and windows.  We enjoyed the tour, got fed some brownies (YUM!) and then headed out around 5:15.  Stopped in Mt. Vernon for gas, then stopped in Greenville for dinner at Cracker Barrel.  They had a fire going in the fireplace and we warmed our butts up before sitting down.  After dinner, headed back to the Metromess.  I arrived back home around 9:15 after an 11 hour day of riding.  And one more down for the Everywhere in Texas project.

We'll post pictures later, but the ride was great and it didn't seem that cold to us.

You guys are hard-core!  Power sliding and chicken fried steak!  Wish I could have been there except for the filthy bike thing. Wink
