I'm thinking of switching to a car tire. Has anyone tried a Yokohama AVID ENVigor 205/60R16? Or recommend some other performance tire?

This isn't exactly advice, but I'm getting ready to click Buy on that exact tire at this moment. If you search this board for "envigor," you'll find a few posts from a few people who have put some good miles on that tire and like it. So after reading those posts and others, I've decided the envigor is the tire for me. Good luck in your tire search.

There's more than a few of us that run that exact tire in that exact size. I love the Yoko but admit it's my first Dark Side tire so I can't compare it to others. I do know it responds really well, is good in the rain and seems to be holding up well to the mileage put on so far. I have 6000 on mine and it still looks like it has almost all of it's tread left.

I have had the Yokohama Avid ENVigor on for 5k miles now. It still looks new, slow speed handling is excellent and at highway speeds grips better than any MC tire I have ever run. Wet conditions and gravel are still wet conditions and gravel, i.e., rider be more aware than usual if possible. The tire does grip very well on wet asphalt, just don't get over confident. On the twisties there is again excellent traction with very little counter-steer, not quite as good as some MC tires but better than OEM. I went with the V rated thinking it would give me a stiffer sidewall and a better built tire for the same price, but since I never tried a H rated Yokohama, I cannot offer a honest opinion comparing the difference. On another bike I ran the GYTT in H rating and was happy with the high speed performance, low speed and wear, not so much. That bike had a faster top end than our Girls, but if you run 100+ MPH for long, you attract the attention of the local constables early and often. I learned long ago, you can't outrun radio, no matter how fast the ride. Riding solo-36 psi seems the best for my Girl. When double up I increase to 38 psi.

I run that tire and will buy another when the time comes. Started with a falken ziex and it was ok but after switching to the envigor it was like night and day. I run 34# of air in it all the time have around 9-10 thousand miles on it and still lots of tread. I may try a more proformance based tire next time something with softer rubber just to try it but im pretty impressed with the envigor.

i have been running the General Altimax for about 4 years now. got over 25,000 miles on it and still looks new. grabs the pavement wet or dry. for the likes and dislikes on ct for the valkyrie. go to darkside.com. you will find every tire that is best for your bike. also you will find comments from the rider on how it performs and what tire pressure to start at. also they list the tires to stay away from.

No one knows what tire is best on a bike or a car for that matter. It is all personal preference, how you ride and the conditions you ride in. I like the yokahoma advid envigor but the next guy may hate that tire. I would just stick with the few tires the guys here have mentioned. They are tested and proved to work and your specific bike and most here just dont ride around the block and say, yep that one works.

I have the General Altimax HP, you wanta buy this from me? It does not like gravel and I have a gravel driveway. Not really happy with the CT on the roads we have here and I have 700 miles on it now. It is a lot quieter than the E3 I took off. Currently I am planning to run this till next spring when I do the rear end maintenance. I have yet to run this in the rain. I paid $100 out the door for it.

Have a Michelin hydroedge on my newest bike. 205/65/16 It came with the bike. Looks good. Rides good however, the wear rating is 800 which might last long but probably isn't the best thing. I have a dunny 404 rear on the front. Rides good. I'm told the 402 is the best because the 404 ismade for a lighter bike.
