Any idea what rear crash bars can be modified to fit the Valk? Something like what champions used to make for the Valk. Not talking about the rails around the bags, just the rear crash bar guards that go in front of the bags. Any input is appreciated . Thank you all in advance.

When you find them get two sets cause I been hunting for a set for a few years now. cooldude

I figure a set could be modified from another bike like maybe a HD even though a HD part my slow down the old Girl... I just don't have the funds to buy sets of them just to modify since I spend most of my extra money on building guns these days... 2funny Grin 2funny

I'll occasionally see crash bars from 70s and 80s vintage bikes at the assorted swap meets  in the area - such as Vintage Days, which is coming up soon.

If a person could get a set of these and modify the mounting tabs - even fabricate and weld new ones on - they might be able to come up with a workable alternative to the Champions.

Does anyone have detailed photos of the Champion upper and lower mounts that could be used for comparison purposes?

Jess, if that's your bike can you pop the seat off and give me a close-up of the rear shock/crash guard interface?

I had to take a look at my bike, I have a set of Hondaline bag rails/guards on it. In front, they look almost exactly like a set of the crash bars Larue is talking about. Last I recall, he has a set of bag guards already on his bike so not sure what he's really wanting to do. They mount the same as the crash guards in front so with the extra rails going around the bags I wouldn't want to change that.

John, those are not mine, just what I could dig up on the web.

Note it is not necessary to run a guard all the way up to the top shock bolt.  The lower loop on the OE interstate/tourer (without any bag rails) is all you need to stop the bike from going all the way over in a drop or slow slide.  Unfortunately, the only way to add the stock Valk rear guard is to use the oe bag mount hardware (and add OE or other bags to cover it up).  The real problem is mount points.  The top shock stud/bolt was used because it was there.  I think a small loop down low would be stronger and more effective, but besides using the exhaust hanger/rear peg mount location, another is necessary for a two point mount.

Like this:

Look at all these.

The picture is of my 98' ACE Tourer, just before I bought it. I still have an extra set of the Shadow VT1100T saddle bag mounts.

As for the 88'-00' GW 1200, that would be a GW 1500. It's the same rear guard on all the GL1500 that have bags (Valk and GW).

Metric Cruisers http://metriccruisers.co.uk/ in the UK still make them. Often on UK eBay for £120 (iirc) about $205 plus shipping.

Larue, there is a compnay in Poland that is making what you were looking for.

Here is the link:

https://www.roadstyler.com/en/shop/back-engine-guards-honda-valkyrie-f6c/

According to their website, the bars plus VAT and shipping to US is a total of $115.08.

Lo0oks like the price is $91.53 for both but not sure what the shipping and maybe VAT would be.
I’ve never seen them before. But there is a bike for sale near me with them it looks.

Anyone think about using sport bike frame sliders? Depending on what you trying to do that might fit the bill. They're easy to install just about anywhere you need one.

Those are for the classic valkyrie but they only fit the soft bags.

Got tired of searching for OEM Saddlebag bars for my '99 I/S and bought these on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/RAIL-GUARD-SADDLEBAGS-SADDLE-BAG-4-HONDA-VALKYRIE-CHROME/123958429657?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Not sure why the buyer said it has 'scratches'; mine had zero scratches. The finish is perfect. Their 'bolt kit' was soft ungraded mickey-mouse but easily replaced with stainless at Fastenal.

The need to protect the I/S bags in my crowded garage was stronger than my need to hold out for OEM....as always, anything made in a shoe factory named Taiwan takes a month to get here, but at the end of the day, I like them a lot.

Regardless, good luck in your search, and Happy New Year!

The finish is perfect.

Their workmanship must have improved. Same vendor, the welding was amateur-ish and splatter was just chromed over. Wouldn't have taken a minute to ground off the splatter. The shape etc is an identical replication though.

I also have the same kit I bought 6 months ago. Aside from few missing hardware pieces (namely spacer for the lower rear mount) I can’t say anything bad about the overall fit and quality
