However you decide to do it, make sure you put a relay in the circuit ... To avoid issues with the starter button

You don't need load equalizers if the only change you make is adding LED lights to the Hoppy 46365 trailer light outputs. If you change the bike turn signals to LED then you either need equalizers or install a blinker relay designed for LED's such as the Kisan SignalMinder which is a good bit more expensive.
If you're keeping your bike's incandescent bulbs but simply adding LED's to the side car then you don't need load equalizers because the existing bike bulbs will do the job.

Bons, The trike kit is from Cal Side Car Co. in Virginia . Mustang8 bolt rear, little trunk in back, lites about 12" off the ground! My intention is to change ALL the bike bulbs to LED ( even in the head lite bucket w/ diode). Since this is my first Valk, I could use all the input fromyoufolkss I can get! Thanks Again! Frankie

I have mostly leds with the exception of the headlight and I do have the Kisen signal minder with no other load equalizers. BonS gave it to you straight, led light will be no problem and will actually be much better as wont pull so much power and will be brighter.

Thanks to ALL! Installed Hoppy converter and it works great! Have a little flicker in the lites. I'm going with the Kinzer Signal Minder SM 3- all but the headlite. If I still have the flicker I'll try addding a load eq. Frankie!

Which Hopkins converter did you use? I had flicker when I had a Blinker Buddy and the Hopkins 46255 but it went away with the 46365. Also, be sure to bag the Kisan Signal Minder to keep it dry. It's not waterproof and water will get into it. Don't ask.

BonS, Used a 46365 Hoppy as U advised, thank u very much! When the turn signal flashes on either side, I get a fluctuation in the rest of my lites. Had that since I bought the ole girl. Hope to install the SM 3 signal minder & LED's next week. We'll see what happens! Frankie

BTW recent versions of the Kisan SM has several useful add'l functions - hazard flashers, true cancelling with a small mod to the switch, running lights, brake flash, selectable time-outs (this one not new) and they incorporated my timer-defeat invention by connecting to the brake line a dozen years ago. I'd replace my old one but I've added all these fn's already via other mods except the true cancelling. I have mixed LED's and tungsten and have added other loads and the Kisan just handles it. Recently I made a special Highlighter for myself with 54 extra-bright LED's (instead of 25) that is wired as run, brake and turn. Kisan didn't care about the extra load - which granted isn't much. I'm not offering this Highlighter for sale as it's more wiring than the typical user would want to do - and it takes me a lot of time to make it as it's handmade - would make it's price too high - so if I offered it, the Chinese would rip it off and I can't compete with their 50¢ / hr labor. I wired this into the circuit I made for run/brake/turn on the rear markers, detailed at http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/VTX_signals/vtx_signals.html There is only one 2-conductor wire to the Highlighter.

Not to hijack this thread - but MARK- That is VERY cool. I'm sure it was a ton of work.
