I'm trying this poll thingy.  crazy2

Yes, let's have another ride through America's Armpit and find out if it's really cooler at the coast.

Pecks Old Port Cove https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pecks-Old-Port-Cove/117475071600867 I have been here before Once or Thrice (don't remember), anyway, the reviews of course are not all stellar, but it is a nice ride out there. Who's up for it?

Please answer the Poll! And we'll see how this thing works.

Thanks
Jaymi

Can't make the ride but I know more than one person that tried to run that road as if it were banked for the turns and it is not.  Take it slow and "smell the roses".  Both of those that had the bad experience healed up and had to get new motorsickles.

cooldude I should be in for "Saturday". Nice riding up there, but gravel on some areas of the road, just be alert. Like Terry says, watch the turns.

Just wanted to say that after reading my post again I didn't intend for it to be as negative as it turned out.  Just be careful out there and have fun it is a nice ride.  If you haven't been you should go if you can.  C U next time.

It's over 100 miles one way for me, not in this heat. Ran a couple errands today before the thunder bumpers started and by the time I got home I looked like I had taken a shower with my clothes on. Come October, no problem. But for now it's simply too hot and I'm not about to ride in shorts and tennies. I've seen too many accidents over the years and noted the difference in damage done when comparing riding attire...the choice between Levis/boots and shorts/tennies. No thank you!

John....Car?
I know you may be more comfortable in a horse and buggy but you really ought to try one of these new-fangled contraptions!
Would be great to see you if you can make it

For all those who think it's too hot  Cry, do what Pappy says and get in the car. We won't hold it against you this time (but don't make it a habit  Wink).

Wink Hey!! I'm not seeing a meet up time at Pecks...are we looking at 11:30 / 12:00?

I'll be at Mac Steak house parking at 8:30am Sat. (54 & 41) leave at 8:45
Depending on the route from there it's a bit more than a 2 hour ride up.

Leaving the house around 8 am, may make it to the Hess station and meet up with you guys and gals.
Murphy & Gary will be with me.  But if we are not there by the time you leave, will see you at Pecks Cove

I was seriously considering this coast to coast ride but have to decline as the 'honey do' list is huge around here and the thunderstorms coming back would suck!  y'all enjoy and talk about the Crescent city shrimp spot Pappy knows about. cooldude

We had a good time as usual. The thunderboomers were holding off for the most part as well.
Grumpster was in the house today!!!  Woohoo!! Lookin good too. And his new Valk replacement is all that and then some. Topnotch singlehanded workmanship at its best!
Even Murph showed up....was great to see him. Hear he is retiring at the end of this year so we may see more of him. Hope so!

Here's todays gang minus Jaymi.
Jaymi - we hope you feel better soon!

Looks like a good turn out, would have liked to join you but nearly 110 miles one way in this heat just doesn't cut it for me. Could have used the car but that takes all the fun out of it, so I took mama grocery shopping. Hadn't been for two weeks so today was expensive; $255.00!  Choke!  Guess it was a good thing we bought some TP with all those vitals.  Grin

Was real good seeing every one today, great ride there, but ran into a frog strangler getting into Brooksville. Almost dried out by the time I made it home.  Jaymi, hope you get to feeling better.

Cool Yes, a good turnout today!
Well we're in the rainy season now for sure. Jaymi, Bill, and I cruised up the back roads toward Ozello Trail following up on some roads we were checking out last weekend on our Homosassa ride.
As always, any time any of us get together it's a good time. Today, not enough tire kickin' time was available; with the looming sky we all knew it was a dine and dash, as well as we could, to beat the afternoon showers. Being out there at sea level even for a summer rain isn't fun. Glad we got out quickly. Flask led us all back out of the trail to US19.
As Billyboy mentioned, we hit a small shower turning onto rt 98 off of US 19 but moved quickly through it. We were just a fuel stop ahead of Grumpy, Murphy, PapaG, and his son, & daughter. I think they ran into a lot more than us.
Those running lights on Grumpy's new ride are impressive! As I had seen them at his shop, their true effect on rider visibility is excellent. By the way, Bill, thank you for thinking about me with those parts.
As always, a great day of feeling the wind!

Man.....I've got to move north.
Not too far north but far enough to take advantage of these weekend rides.
I hear it snows anywhere north of Sarasota Grin

I remember that Pappy. I was attending a class in Tallahassee at the time and when we got ready to leave, I was teasing a buddy that lives in Jacksonville. Told him it was turning cold and it's too bad he lived so far north. As it turned out the weather took a weird turn, he had temps in the 70's and it snowed in Orlando. He never let me forget it.

That same guy came in handy one time and helped me catch my ex spreading her charms, much to her surprise. Tell you about it in person, rather amusing.  Wink

Hey, great pics, thanks for posting them. We are living vicariously this time of year but we sure do miss seeing you guys every weekend. Glad y'all enjoy riding in this weather, but we are wimps. Can do rain, fog and cold, but this heat ... no way. And if Billy Boy dressed in his riding pants was that popular with the waitress, imagine the sign she would have created if he had worn his daisy dukes! Hmmmm, maybe some more photoshopping is in order ...
