Was on the phone with a riding buddy yesterday n' he told me he ''had about blown up'' his 1997  10K bike.  ???

Asked him what the hell he had done?    Undecided

Told me he hadn't ridden the valk for a while n' decided to run it in the garage for a lil while.

Only problem was he forgot about it, n' left it running for over 1 1/2 hours....  Shocked

When he went back out there he said it was sooooo hot,,, the gas was bubbling in the tank...   Cheesy

Do ya'll think this type of abuse, will lead to any problems in the near future ?

If so, in what area?

Naw, if it was still running, it's most likely "no harm done"

Might have messed up some hoses tho.

Oil needs a smelling to see if it was burned any, but

that's doubtful.

I would think as long as the water was fine, and the fan was running, the engine is fine.

However, other parts can be over heated, but they don't have anything to do with the engine.

My Shadow would melt the plastic near the exhaust, if there was no air passing over the bike (fan or moving). The gas boiling in the tank would be heat coming from the engine.

Also check the fluids levels. The oil and water.

That sounds strange. A engine idling with no load. It should not get hot unless there's an issue with oil or water circulation. But the fan doesn't come on until you are idling. Wonder if there's not enough water circulation.  Any one else have this happen?
