Have a 97 standard with 40,700 miles. Just got back from a 1,300 mile trip, the Valkyrie ran fine, but recently seems a little sluggish on acceleration. It starts and idles fine, but is it time to look at syncing the carbs? Anyone in the Indy area care to take it for a ride to get their opinion on how it' s running? Thanks

If it idles fine, carb sync is not your problem.

I think I would try a few tanks of gas with techron or seafoam first and then put some miles on it going slow before tearing into anything or adjusting stuff.

These critters are pretty bullet-proof, but, they do have a few problems as everything eventually does.
The first thing I'd recommend is giving the vacuum lines a good look and probably replacement. Then maybe look into a sync if its never been checked. But, if it still idles smoothly and throttle transition is good then it shouldn't be needed.

I have a 97 also. Found that about every piece of rubber having to do with the carbs were needing to be replaced.

Used to buy new bike every two years. Can't find anything to upgrade to. Harley rider for 40 years. Nough said

+1 on the vac lines and caps. Might want to take a peek at that air filter also.  Grin
