Hey guys
I've been running a 205-60-16 GY Assurance TT for 28.5k miles, and now down to 2/32 from the wear bars. I've enjoyed the mileage out of the tire, but going to another tire with more rounded shoulders when the time comes. Been considering going to a 205-65-16 size. Other than the possibility of needing to do the washer mod, are there any negatives to the 65 profile? My height is not a problem. Also, what are the most common name brands being used in the 205-65-16 size? NOT INTERESTED IN USING THE AUSTONE TAXI TIRE. Thanks for your input.

Used a Nexen N5000 205/65 for awhile. I liked it fine, think I got 20k out of it. Didn't have to do washer mod. No downside as far as I'm concerned. Get a little more lean on the sidestand. Lowered revs about 300 at 70mph.

I am running the N5000 205/65 on my standard. I had to shave the cage nuts because I installed 11" shocks. ??? I ride Solo. I figure if I went two up, I'd have to go back to 13" shocks. At any rate, I would shave the cages even if it doesn't rub. You might have a heavy load some day and it'd be sad to do the fix just before leaving to catch the wind.

Paxton I cut the nut cages when put on the GY TT. I have the 13" progressive 440's, and this is a solo bike like yours, except it is fast green and cream thanks for your input. And thanks to you guys about the Nexen, that is a good looking tire. I didn't see any directional tires in the 65 profile on tire rack....they were all symetrical or asymetrical Old2soon, in the shop I park in a chock, vertical. You're right, will have to watch out for the parking when out breezing. Ken N MS

I am running a kumho solus, 205/65 on my Valk. So far have about 3K on it. (Got 30K on the HydroEdge, could have gotten a couple more K miles as it wasn't total to the wear bars but needed to service rear end). I do like the Kumho better as it likes laying over in the curves, more rounded shoulders. It is a non-directional tire.

i don't find on any sight where the potenza is available in a 205-65.
guys who recomended the Nexen N5000, was told by local tire dealer they aren't made anymore, but I do see them for sale on numerous websites
Can anyone tell me how stiff the sidewall is on the Nexen 5000 in a 205-65 size?

ken you are correct sir. I checked with my tire guy and the Potenza v rated was discontinued, but still avalible in 60 series sidewall. the bridgestone turanza comes in 65 sidewall. very nice tire, comes stock on new beemers and lexus's. must be good, quiet and comfy to come on a $50K car

Which kumho solus are you running? I am running a Kumho Solus KH16, 65 series. So far like it. Corners better than the pervious car tire, a Michelin HydroEdge also in the 65 series. I have about 10k on it now and it's wearing about the same as the HydroEdge.

The Nexen N5000 comes in a wide selection of sizes, which is nice, but does the fact that it is asymmetrical cause any issues?

On the Valkyrie face book page there is a post showing the Yokohama Envigor 205-60R-16 that shows it to have rounded shoulders.

My present E3 most likely will be done in a few months. Then I will go to my first dark side. Since the Austone is listed as having a 5.5" thread width, I have come up with these four 205/65-16 tires with a 5.5 to 6.4 width, at a much lower cost. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareTires.jspI have not seen any of them in person as of yet.

CA, your session expired on that link. Could you list the 4 you had been looking at. I have been making comparisons for about 2 weeks now and would like to see what you have come up with. This GYTT I inherited has some bad manners. It needs to go.

Just started riding with this tire, I like it better than the Falken 912 that I put almost 15,000 miles on. Available at Discount tire for $80. Ohtsu FP6000 A/S only downside so far after 450 miles to Spearfish is that it like to follow the grooves in the grooved concrete pavement, but only a little bit. Tweaking the tire pressure may eliminate this issue. I started at 44PSI and it was worse, reduced to 41PSI and it got better I did the fender bolt mod for my last car tire and this tire would require the mod also.

I was looking at that tire earlier in the yr and could not find any specs on it. Thanks

That Otshu tire seems pretty good. It looks to have a nice rounded profile. I can get a 205/60R15 delivered to my house for $62. Sounds too good to be true though. Does anyone else have any experience with this particular tire? BTW DD, what size are you running?
