OK I can't leave well enough alone.  I was trying to figure out why the cig lighter power port did not work, this turned out to be a ground issue.  I was looking at the battery connections thinking I missed putting a wire on the positive side when I replaced my battery, everything was fine.  While I am busy looking at things I don't understand, I took the cover off the fusible link.  I thought it would be smart to see if the screws were tight on it and proceeded to break some of the plastic (bakelite?) material off behind the bottom two screws.  My wife and I are leaving in a week for a tour around Wisconsin and Minnesota, should I worry?  In my feeble ways, it seems like they are just protecting the connections, but is there more to it?

I've broken it before in 110V systems, and hadn't any problems.

But with the MC, could water get in there or is it sealed from the weather? I would be concerned about moisture, but I don't think it would be a problem for months/years, depending on the weather where you ride.

Thanks I was think the same way.  It is only sort of sealed from weather anyway.
