Sorry I haven't been on the board for a LONG time but after my near fatal wreck on Freedom, I went into withdrawals. Plus we have been working our butts off on our new home in east Texas.
To catch you up to date for those new members I totaled my 99 I/S last October and spent 6 weeks recovering from a broken elbow and miles of 3rd degree burns and road rash on my skinny body.
The other driver was at fault when he turned across a 4 lane divided highway in front of me. He was a motorcycle rider also, only he was in a truck!!
I had the choice of t-boning him or laying down Freedom, I laid her down!
I was pleased at the settlement they gave me for Freedom $13,630.
Then came the settlement for my injuries and lost time. They came through with no problems.
He had Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, they were good to me.
Catfish and I went to Valkyricks and Sharons wedding this past Saturday and saw Wanderer and Lemon Drop and Boom Boom, it was good seeing all of them.
I probably will not get another motorcycle, I am at an age that if I considered getting another on, it would probably be a GW Trike. My knee is bad and will have it replace next year before I retire next July.
If you are ever in east Texas around Winnsboro give us a call and come visit, it would be good to see all of you again
Our addy there is 854 CR 4590 Winnsboro, Tx. 75494
Sorry again for not being on the board and keeping in touch but, we have been VERY busy since we bought our place there.

Don, good to see you posting and happy to hear you are mended back up, for the most part.  While it is sad to hear you are not going to replace Freedom with another Valk, it's good that you recognize that you have to be in the right frame of mind to ride and if you're not, it's better to just drive the cage.  Most everyone who has suffered a wreck on a motorcycle recognizes the fact that dangers are now more in their mind than before and you have to weigh the joy of riding against the possible fatal injuries that you can suffer when others make mistakes.

Stay safe!

Smiley Don glad to see u up and running. As for that knee, I have just returned home after 14 days in the hosp from a Bilateral-Total Knee Replacement. There is light at the end of the tunnel now for me. Is it fun? NO, but u will never regret it. Both of mine were bone on bone, that is why i chose to do both at the same time. I am looking forward to having a new life as the one I have had these past 3 yrs was not fun.
