Earlier this year I had to replace the locks on the saddlebags on my Tourer. What I didn't realize at the time was that you could buy complete lock sets so as to have the same key for everything. I ended up buying new locks for the saddlebags and now have three separate keys. Needless to say it's a pain in the but.

I recently discovered you can buy a complete lock set, however, it appears the sets for the Tourer are no longer available. Does anyone know if the lock set for the Interstate, which is still being offered, will work on the Tourer? I imagine everything is the same but, as the saddlebags open differently on the Interstate, I wasn't sure if the locks for that bike are the same as the Tourer.

Any insight would be most helpful. Thanks.

They should be the same . You could also look on eBay at Pinwall cycles I see them listed there from time to time.

My bike is a Standard, and the previous owner added saddle bags off of an Interstate. I hated having two separate keys, and I ordered a lockset from one of the online parts suppliers for a 1999 Interstate. It works perfectly, and allows everything to be opened with one key. It comes with the ignition, gas cap, steering lock, seat lock, saddle bag locks, trunk lock, and helmet locks. I didn't have a trunk on my bike at the time, so I didn't need the trunk or helmet locks, but I've since added a trunk, so now I can use the trunk and helmet locks. The only real difference is that the Interstate ignition switch has provisions for an "accessory" whereas the Standard and Tourer do not. I just left the accessory terminal blanked off.

Here it is from "DealerCostParts". It's part #35010-MBY-000 (#2 on the microfiche):

Hope this helps!

There are probably locksmiths that could fix you up. Perhaps you could check
with a good one near you...

Thanks for the information everyone – good to know. I never considered checking with a locksmith to see if the current locks I have can be rekeyed to work with my original key. Will give that a shot before shelling out the money for a new lock set. If that doesn't work, at least I know I can order a new set from the Interstate and be back to one key again.

If at least 1 of your keys will go all the way into the keyway of all of the locks (even tho they won't turn), a locksmith can re-key your locks to ALL work with that key!!  cooldude

And of course you can get multiple copies of that compatible key.

Unfortunately, Honda changed keyway somewhere along the way, and so there are 2 different keyways out there.  Undecided

Good luck from a Valk riding locksmith.  Smiley

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the information. Tried the original ignition key and it fits in both saddlebag locks fully but won't turn. I'll take them into our local locksmith this week and see if they can rekey them for me. Makes a lot more sense over buying an entirely new lock set, especially given the price.

Thanks again!

I had my ignition lock broke and I could not start the bike. I went to a locksmith and for about $10-$15 he fixed me up  in about two hours.
