I know most of you are enjoying the fine and maybe not so fine riding weather across the nation right now. While you’re enjoying getting out, I thought I would give you all something to consider for those months when you’re surrounded by cold white snow and or the temps have difficulty getting to the point where riding is enjoyable.
Here is a link to the 2010 Arizona Bike week site. Normally scheduled for the last week of March, this year it’s scheduled for April 2-10 spanning two weekends. Most of the activities take place on the 5-11 of April. There are one to two charity rides every day for those wishing to participate and contribute, but you can also get out on your own for some interesting riding. Besides the hundreds of vendors and local businesses that bring out their wares for display and sale, many of the major manufactures bring out their new machines and there are daily test rides available to licensed riders. Manufactures from Boss Hoss to Vespa are represented so……… You can check out this WEB site for photo’s of last years event which was great as well as some preliminary information on the 2010 event.
http://www.azbikeweek.com/index.htmArizona bike week is a reasonable cost event. Buy one weekly pass for around $35 and it gets you into main grounds for the entire week of concerts and activities. Last year there were about 15,000 people who bought tickets for the event, which make is much less crowded than a Sturgis or Daytona meet. Many others participated in parties held at the local dealerships or local watering holes. Those parties start on the 2nd of April. The riding is great out here and the scenery is difficult to beat at that time of year. Except for the immediate Scottsdale/Phoenix areas which are a bit pricy, there are plenty of hotels such as Motel 6 that can be gotten for reasonable rates within 10-15 easy riding miles of the main activity site.
Anyway, if anyone is serious about attending this event post yer intentions and one of us locals may be able to get you info about cheep places to stay, or suggest rides you may want to consider depending on your time restrictions. By the way, the main events including concerts are held at Westworld in Scottsdale so if you pick that as your camp site you are right where all the action is centered.
