Wouldn't worry about that noise, but Id work on that grip.....after a bad broken arm I had to work hard on the right hand grip.  Its worth the effort to have more strength.

Its safest to keep in in gear and in control of the clutch while at lights.........Ive seen what happens when a Harley tried to take off at the green but didn't get it into gear.......lucky for him it was just embarrassing but it could have been a rear ending very easily

We had a guy zip around inside of large truck at light....light changed...truck didn't know he was there...bike didn't get it in gear quickly enough...dead in seconds...so get the concern and appreciate it...only do so when safe to do so.     Hox

Not to tell you how to ride. But recently I was very glad I was in gear at a light. Semi truck locked up his brakes and came right at me. I was able to get out of the way quickly. That said it's the only time in 40 years that I've needed the bike to be in gear for a quick getaway. You just never know if you'll need a quick getaway. cooldude

I don't go to neutral at a light unless someone is stopped behind me. Same as downshifting; if I check the mirror and someone behind me isn't stopping I want to be in a gear I can use to get the heck out of his way...

Thanks for all your feedback....neutral to me is  only used at lights when safe to do so...arthritis drives this need...but do appreciate safety tips....
