Gilligan and Navigator - Wherever we ended up

Southwest Indiana

« on: August 10, 2009, 11:23:39 AM »

BG and a couple of others have asked me to post the pics of our Canadian trip.  We have not completed organizing them yet, but here are a couple of them.

                                                  Banff

                                                  Athabasca Glacier

                                                  On the Glacier

                                                  Jasper

After we finish, I'll go through our journal with the pics.

Ride Safe, y'all.

after all the trips you and Nav have made you have it down to a science.
i am truly impressed

that's not stealing is it? ... and ... how to pack compactly

Stealing:   Nope.  It's not stealing.  It's sharing, and we enjoy sharing.   cooldude

Packing:   Yep, we learned how to pack compactly, by eliminating things we found were not necessary.  It's amazing what you can do without.   Wink

Glad you two had a great trip and thanks for some great pics.  Brings back some fond memories of my trip to the Great White North many years ago.  Time to return.

Those are some nice shots. We are leaving South Carolina  (12th) wed am. Hook up with a couple of G.W.'s in Memphis and head for Denver Colo. Should be in the Rockies west of Denver fri. nite "late". then sat. am head northwest thru the mountains and up to Glacier NP.
We plan to spend several days in Canada in the same locations u where @. We got just under three weeks, back in S.C. by Sept 1.

Got any hints on good sleepovers in Canada?

We stayed at the Super 8 in Invermere on our way in.  In Banff, we cannot recommend where we stayed.  It was a little pricey and not a good deal for the money.  We do recommend Melissa's Misteak for meals.  We stayed in the Icefields Chalet at the Athabasca Glacier.  It was very expensive, but we got time alone at the Icefields.  (Good place for couples.)  We stayed at the Mount Robson Inn in Jasper.  It was motorcycle friendly with a good location for either walking to eat or riding to see the sights.

We hope you have a great ride.  Be prepared for snow as you approach Athabasca Glacier.  As you can see from the pics, it got very cold and snowed down wind.

Ride Safe.
