After riding almost four miles to the event, I'm glad to be back home safe and sound!  The 8th annual Hill Country Rally for Kids was a big success despite the temps getting well up into the triple digits.

I set up my toy hauler on Friday to make sure I had a comfortable place to hang Saturday during the event…

I did not haul the bike as that would have broken the old record held by Laser Pat and I -- we trailered 62 miles to an event once -- so, I took the truck home and then rode back.

There were plenty of good looking bikes including this one…

I really liked this 1951 Harley Service Car…

…and this nice custom…

…and this great old BSA…

Also, lots of cool cars…

…and some cool trucks…

…and even a custom tractor…

But the HC Rally was not just motorcycles, cars and tractors -- there was BBQ!  I was asked to be a volunteer judge for the BBQ ribs contest.  That's right, BBQ ribs and free beer…SIXTEEN BBQ ribs and free beer!

The pic above was taken just before they brought the ribs out -- can you sense the anticipation?  I couldn't take any pictures while we were judging, but I gave out one "10", one "9" plenty of "8's" and one "5" (on a scale of 1 to 10).

Afterwords I took a nap back at the trailer…

Yep, it really is good to be home "safe and sound"!

Safe winds y'all!

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Here's a link to more pictures from last weekend's HC Rally for Kids:
