I use the Mobil 1 as well. No moly in it if it says Nothing in the bottom of the circle on the back. I wouldn't put a Fram filter on a lawnmower. One of the best is a Purolator Pure One (PL14610). I find them at Pep Boys here in AZ.

IM Italian, I prefer Olive oil, but not the expected extra virgin......those that know olive oil know the extra virgin is for cold applications.  The Valkyrie gets hot so use the medium it has a much higher boiling point.  cooldude

You might as well have asked what brand of truck people prefer.   Wink

Didn't mean to be a smart-ass. This topic has generated heated discussion in the past. I do the same as Sandy, mobil1 and purolator. cooldude I've tried Chrisj's idea but I had to many Italian women putting the moves on me and I had to switch back to mobil1 2funny

ALOT of folks on this board use Rotella and are very happy with it.

My preferrence is Mobil 1 20w50 V-Twin oil with Purolator Pure One, PL14610 filters.

I wouldn't use a Fram filter on anything.

I'm late to this discussion and my opinion means nothing. But, if this monster has been run successfully for 123K on Castrol 10-40 with no issues, then my question is, why change now.
I'm old fashioned in many respects and don't believe in changing oil brands.

any diesel oil is better than overpriced m/c oil.
read used oil analysis www.bobistheoilguy.com
there is a st1100 rider who has used most diesel oils even supertech always below normal wear.

...cant seem to locate Purolator filters up here in  eskimo land -just want to baby the girl and want her to keep me happy for awhile being 73 years on me and still kicking around I want her to hang with me  ==thanks bros take good care ride safe
If by Eskimo land, you mean Canada, every few months Canadian Tire puts their Mobil 1 oil on sale.  I've used and liked Mobil 1 15W50 "Performance Vehicle Formula" for many years now.  Some will turn their noses up at Fram oil filters, but I've used nothing but Fram for many years because they are also readily available at Canadian Tire.  I change my oil and filter once a year when I put Gryphon to sleep for the winter.  If I ever retire, I hope I ride enough to need to change my oil more often.  Smiley

+1 to Mobil 1, I found synthetic helped quiet the gear noise a bit. But like others have said, if it ain't broke, don't fuss with it. I stay with Mobile 1 filters that my local Auto Zone always seems to have in stock.

There is a video on youtube where a guy takes a few oil filters a part to make a comparison. The fram filter pleats were poorly joined leaving a hole. He states the only thing a fram is good for is target practice. Pure One is the only filter I am using. I too am a Mobil 1 user.

Same here read the oil report, drank the coolade, and have been using ams for quite some time. NOT cheap. Wouldn't use anything but Amsoil in the Hayabusa.

I too am a ams oil user, Have been using ams in both bikes a 03 standard and 01 Interstate. Also use it in the final drive, you don't have to change it as often and runs cooler, and cooler is good for the Big Boys

I use Purolator Pure One oil filter now. They are pretty cheap on Amazone in Canada. About the same price as Fram sold in Canadian Tire store. For the ooil it is Castrol Motorcycle. I use it for years

oversized PureOne PL14459. larger dia, same length as OEM
allows a true 4 qts. more filtration area, lower pressure drop means less times by-pass valve opens

I've been using Rotella synthetic with a Honda filter but recently got some Mobil-1 15W50 on sale at Wal-Mart and thought I'd try it and a Purolator Pure One next time.

That is unless there might be some other opinions  Grin crazy2 crazy2

make sure u harden the oil first. put oil bottles in boiling water for a few minutes then remove and plunge them into ice cold water. oil will be hardened and will last 100k miles before needing to change.  coolsmiley
This drives the 2k miles synthetic oil change faithful, nuts.  Wink
