Ok bought my bike early this spring and drove it very little this summer until yesterday I burned up a full tank of fuel, yay !!!, runs great, to quiet, and omg power. The only thing I have to complain about is it seems to be rich at low speeds, gurgly sounding. not sure if theres adjustments on the carbs or not to fix this, as I bought the bike in Grand Rapids Michigan with about a 650 foot elevation and brought it way over to North Dakota with a 1650 foot elevation, thinking if it was tunned for Grand Rapids would it be rich running at the elevation change????

and what about the exhaust, anyone make a nice low rumbling set of pipes that wont kill the ears? I like a little sound but not looking to piss off the town !

Do you know the bikes history ? That would help.
These critters do run rich, so, some of that is normal.
Some reasons to run excessively rich are
bigger jets [either lows or highs]
pilots set too rich [ 35s should be 2.25 turns, 38s at 1.5-1.75 turns]
needles shimmed a bit too high

no I really don't know the history all that much, once im up past 5 maybe 10 mph its fine, its mostly low idle, so there is an adjustment screw on the carbs? I was hoping there would be, I race snowmobiles in the winter so im pretty familiar with how that all works. thanks for any help

Other than the issues relative to jets and needles,  check the air cleaner to see if it is dirty, check the fuel enrichment stop settings to ensure that the enrichment circuit is operating properly ( see shop talk).

I'm betting on the air cleaner, if runs well at higher rpm.   Hoser

Your elevation change will make a minor difference in air/fuel ratio.
Would start with adjusting the slow needles and see what the engine needs at your altitude.

With his pipes you have a choice..........call him and let him explain. I have them on mine and can choose between deep and mellow or deep and loud in about 15 seconds!
