I dont think Hillary is being PC here or taking in to consideration the "gap" between African and American "custom".  I thought we were all supposed to get along, sing Kumbaya and make 'smores'.   2funny
I guess the Africans dont really care what Hillary's opinion is.  There are some really smart Africans over there!!!!

Robert:  I tried playing the video and it says that I am in a Geographic Area where it is unavailable - Heck, I am in Luanda, Angola - she just left here yesterday for the DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo - the old Zaire).  She was staying (or her staff was) at the Hotel Tropico here because of the military, police and SS around that place when we were trying to get home on Saturday I reckon.  Surprised she wasn't staying at the Embassy.  Maybe it was just a meeting at the hotel.  Anyway, she has been here for two days and left yesterday (or today actually).  Anyway, what was said?

If you haven't been to Africa, there is a lot that can be said that can be misunderstood........I mean, like they say in Blood Diamonds, "TIA" (This is AFRICA).  Anywho, what did she say??????

This sure ain't Kansas anymore TOTO!!!!!!! I dang sure don't want to get into the politics here, I was just wondering what she said about Africa.......(especially since she just left here and it may pertain).  Thanks bro, if you can send me a link or something.....

Lunch in Luanda.....

KINSHASA, Congo - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is not known to lose her cool but that is what happened at a press conference in Africa this week.

Mrs. Clinton is on a seven-nation tour to promote U.S. policy and commitment to the region. But a question about her husband, former President Bill Clinton, set her off.

It happened at a press conference in the Congo. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thought she was being asked for her husband's opinion on foreign policy. An interpreter had mistakenly translated a student's question.
Talkback:

"What does Mr. Clinton think through the mouth of Mrs. Clinton?" the interpreter said.

The look on her face betrayed that she was not pleased.

"You want me to tell you what my husband thinks? My husband is not the Secretary of State. I am," Clinton replied, tersely.

And in case that wasn't clear:

"You ask my opinion I will tell you my opinion," Clinton said. "I'm not going to channel my husband."

Understood but - despite smiles as her tour continued - a raw nerve had been exposed.

Mrs. Clinton's better half has recently been getting very good press after his successful mission to secure the release of two American journalists detained in North Korea. He was the center of attention the day her own trip started. And all anyone wanted to talk about.

"I had a very brief conversation with my husband," Clinton said. "We did not go into details on some of the questions you are asking."
Another question is whether her husband's shadow hurts her or simply makes it harder to shine.

"If you are the secretary of state and someone asks you about your husband's view of something, I think any woman would be upset," said ABC News analyst Cokie Roberts.

Throughout the D.C. area Tuesday, residents and tourists reacted to Clinton's response.

"It was not the Hillary Clinton -- the polished woman that I'm used to seeing. And I was truly shocked! She was kind of slouched in her chair and she looked like she had just gotten off work at the factory," said Linda Clouse, a Chicago resident.

"I think the translator made an honest mistake. If you asked her what her opinion is, you should be getting her opinion -- not her husband's [opinion]," said Eric Harton, a Naples, Fla. resident. "I think she represents the United States as secretary of state, not Bill Clinton."

When asked if she could be jealous of her husband, Margit Pallhuber of Vienna, Austria said, "No. She's such a strong lady. She is not jealous of her husband -- never, ever!"

The misinterpretation was cleared up. The student wanted to know what President Obama thought -- not Mr. Clinton. That was a question the Secretary of State was happy to answer.

Strider
I am truly sorry you cannot get the video.  It loses something in the translation when you just read the text and not see the expression on her face or the tone in her voice.  lol

I am also to understand that the translator was supposed to have made a mistake.  The student was reported to have been asking what Obama thought regarding his asked question.  I dont speak the language so I cannot translate it into English.  But either way Hillary was visibly upset.  She has NO poker face.  LMAO.

Looking forward to seeing you again.  When are you back in the States again?
