No experience with the Barnett, but a new OEM spring seemed pretty stiff to me.

just finishing reading about 20 posts, just new OEM spring seems to be the way to go.

reading all of the posts it seems there are a lot of 97-98 bikes some low miles like mine having the damper plate go bad.
was there some type of problem those yrs?
other yrs have 100k+ miles and no problems including supercharged bikes.

Problem has been ascribed to bad plate assemblies from a sub-component vendor.  It does seem to happen most often with 97 and 98 models in the 60k mile range.

Thanks VP
goldwings those same yrs also have same problem after reading some GW forums.
I hope the new damper plate I just ordered is the new and improved one.   Undecided

I had one in a Valkyrie and did not like it. I pulled it out and went back with the stock one
