Lightning storm screwed up my guages... Fuel gauge days I'm empty when I'm full and over heating light is on... What the hell is this madness.

I've disconnected the battery to attempt to reset the system... What do I do?

It's unlikely both sensors went out.  The common thread is the LCD module.  Refer to page 6 of the electrical schematics.

I was inside a buddy's house when we got trapped there for about an hour.. In the meantime, lightning had struck the house twice, with the second time creating a "burn spot" on a wall-mirror in the living room. We began to smell crap burping in the house and were convinced to call the fire dept so they can come check. They came, used n infrared heat gun to scan for heat in the walls.

Anyway, the bike was about 2' from the exterior wall outside. Now my mojo is funky.

The wiring diagrams can be found under FAQ's.  Use this link: http://www.rattlebars.com/valkfaq/

The temp sensor is screwed into the front of the engine water jacket.  It has one wire attached to it.  Disconnect the wire when the engine is cold and check the sensor to see if it is grounding the signal.  If it is not, that is normal, so the sensor is good.

Because you mentioned the fuel gauge, I assume you have an Interstate.  In the FAQ's there are prints for Standards and another for Interstates.  Make sure you select page 6 for the Interstates.

The Temperature light and Fuel gauge are both controlled by the LCD.  That is why I am suspecting that component.

If you look on Sheet 6 of the Interstate prints, you will see the Temperature switch provides the input to the LCD at pin 11.  The logic in the LCD then provides an output at pin 4 which will turn on the Temperature light.

I haven't looked at the parts fische, but I would think the LCD can be found on the Fairing page.

Try searching for it in the Pinwall site on Ebay.

How is the LCD and the fuel gauge issue related?

It's on the upper left corner of this schematic:

It's number 5. It's called "METER, MULTI DISPLAY" 37105-MBY-671. Service Honda has it listed for about $600. You certainly might want to buy used! There are a couple on ebay right now. One has ~50K miles and the other has ~105K.

Does anyone know if this will correct the fuel gauge issue as well?

The gas tank float rheostat is directly connected to the LCD module. It's the LCD electronics that interpret the variable voltage of the rheostat into the fuel level bars shown on the display.

Refer to my 3 replies I sent on September 7th.  All the answers are there.  If you don't have experience reading electrical prints, try to find a friend nearby that does.  The reason I suspect the LCD is that it controls the logic of both of your problems.  It is unlikely that both sensors are defective.  Good luck.

Just FYI.  Lightning killed the tree in our front yard, 30 ft or so from the house.  The tree literally exploded when the bolt vaporized the water in the wood - the flying pieces of wood hit the house like shrapnel, busted the plastic siding in several places, went through the screen on an open window, badly bent the spring-steel radio antenna on the Explorer.  I was here.  Several computer boards were fried by the EMF even w/o it hitting the house or any wiring.  Including the sound board on the server motherboard, the UPS, the DVDExpressDX2 NTSC to USB TV signal converter, and the main circuit board on the new spa.  Electronic circuits are easily damaged by EMFs - even solar storms. Power grids, transformers, etc. Google that.  My ZUMO was destroyed by a solar storm about 3 years ago.  When I was using it on a road trip.  Had to revert to memory rather than follow my route on the blue highways.  One of the big destructions from nuclear weapons is the huge EMF will destroy everything electronic for some radius.  That's pretty much all vehicles and comm equipment, appliances, power grid, water plants, refrigeration, HVAC... all dead.  Your guns will still work however.  Unless you have any new "smart" guns or laser rangefinders, night vision...

Okay so I replaced the LCD, problem still exists. Do you guys think I'm looking at the sensors?

I don't know if it is sensors. Did you get the display working now? Saw your fairing listed for sale in classifieds but no mention of a display issue. If you solved it, let us know what it was.

Display was never an issue, I'm selling it with an extra instrument cluster... I really think it's sensors
