I installed a new headlight bulb because my high beam was burned out. The connection to the modulator was a little loose and just seemed pretty rinky dink to me at the time but it had always worked before the high beam burned out so I just put a little better tape job on it. My modulator hasn't worked since so today I thought I'd try to figure out why it wasn't working. To make a long story short in taking it apart the wires came out of the plug and I don't know how it was hooked up. There are only 2 wires and there are 3 holes in the plug. Electrical is not my thing! Anyone know how this should be wired? I did try a couple different combinations but figured I might blow something if I hooked it up wrong so I thought I'd ask for help on the board. Thanks for any help you can give.

on mine the white wire is in the left slot (viewed from backside while it is still on back of headlamp.)

I have sealant on the wires to prevent same from occuring which makes it hard to see where the other wire goes but it appears to be in the right side with the center having no wires.

Do you have relays in the bucket? What brand modulator is it? Here is a link to Mark T's relay wiring diagram, it may help just by giving some wire colors at the plug. I can't seem to locate a similar diagram on Chet's Valk pages.
 http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Headlight_Upgrade/headlight_upgrade.html

I used a plug and play version modulator after I did the relays. 10 lbs of s#!+ in a 5 lb bag. Other than connectors on the relays, everything is soldered.

That wiring diagram is way over my head but I appreciate the help anyway Crackerborn. Mine is a plug and play but can't read what it says for a brand or model.

Cliff, my wires are black and red but I believe that is just what I needed to know. I didn't have a chance to get it done today.

Thanks a lot for the help guys!

I have since found that mine is a Pathblazer Headlight Modulator. My wires are black and red. I think the light sensor or the plug may be bad. I could not get it to work. I appreciate the help though!

Assuming I have it wired correctly it doesn't work. Would there be any other way to check the unit to see why it isn't working?

Some modulators are "programmable" by turning the high beam (I think) on/off a specified number of times.

I'm sure someone about a year ago said his wasn't working (modulating). After someone telling him to program it, it worked fine.

Without reading the whole thread again, what isn't working? You've hooked it up, correctly, but the head light isn't modulating?

It worked fine until I replaced the headlight bulb and the wires pulled out of the flimsy connector. I think it is wired right now but doesn't work so it is probably fried. I have done away with that flimsy connector and have it connected with some female pin connectors I bought at Radio Shack. It has a good tight connection now. I've tried the programming by turning the switch on and off 3 times within 2 seconds as described on instructions I got online. I was just hoping there was some way to check the thing with a meter to see if it is really fried or not.
