I did the ultimate rear seat first for the wife. After she saw how much better is was it was easy for me to get mine. She could only ride about 200 miles on the stock seat. Now she can ride all day.

Before you go buy a new back seat, I would look at the Airhawk pillion cushion to throw on the OE seat.  They are like riding on air, and make it easy to go all day.  I use one for driver on my Ultimate seats.  She will sit a little taller.  I do not know whether the small or large pillion cushion is better; measure the rear seat and go for best fit.  HDL carries these, but RL cycles (below) has better prices.  The cushions are expensive, but cheaper than a new back seat.  It will not slip and does not need tied down. Put in bags when you stop.  She will love you for the comfort.

The Ultimate passenger backrest is also wider and a little taller, which makes it a lot more comfortable for the passenger.  The OEM backrest is just too small and low.

Franco,
I got the Ultimate at InZane. Cynirenne loves it  Smiley , so much better than the stock. It also got me the Ultimate Bigboy as well  angel ! Remember when mama is happy all are happy  Cool , when Mama ain't happy nobody's happy  Angry !

On the petcock rebuild. My fuel mileage was up in Colorado afterwards, but since I got home it has tanked again  ??? . Can't decide if it is an alttitude thing, or a fuel grade thing  Undecided . I have always thought the bike was running rich so am thinking of trying to get it leaned out.

Ride safe! JDW

I have right at $50.00 and a few hours labor invested in this homemade seat (rear).  Not the best looking seat, but my wife likes it.

Have had Corbin's dual tour set up for ten years.  My seat works okay.  No complaints.  The wifeunit's pillion seat . . . well she hates it.  She has hated it from day three.  Probably day two.  No cush for the tush.  Ymmv,

VANAGON40 is that pillon seat made from a standard rider seat? i thought about doing that with the spare 97 . i ve installed a 2000 rider seat with a ultimate back rest and its fine for me. leaves the passenger seat.
SHARKEY glad you found your problem .now if you keep buying extra stuff for your valk its gonna end up looking like Jean the wolf man s. he started out with a 96-97 tourer, ends up with  an interstate . must be the exchange rate advantage!
hey Jean no more spanish this is the USA ! hahaha! (the gaellic humor is not always understood)
SHEETS i ve heard from a few that the corbin was too hard (?) tickedoff Grin cooldude

Yes, and that was my first attempt.  I want to try again and see if I can get the seat about 1/2" lower.  What I really want is a seat from a 2000 or later.  I keep watching ebay, and the used seats usually sell right at the HDL new price of $82.00.  I'm about ready to buy a new one.

Thread hijack on ebay seat prices:

Check out this vendor: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Genuine-Honda-Valkyrie-Seat-98_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em20Q2el1116QQhashZitem27a9603f0aQQitemZ170345381642QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

He wants only $200 for the seat, with $30 shipping.  Must be some pretty special seats.
