Started tourer up this morning and ran into the house to get stuff. Came out and i had no headlight. Everything works but the head light. No highbeams either. Had to get to work so nothing was checked. Volt meter showed all good. Gonna check the bulb and fuse tomorrow night. Any other suggestions?

Ya might try flipping your starter button.

That is the last thing you touched I'm assuming.

It also turns the headlight off during the starter cycle.

Worth a shot.

Keep us posted in your find.

Well I was gonna suggest what RJ did but since you tried that I would say try a new bulb and check fuses.

Is your headlight higher wattage than original? If so, you may have damaged the plug on the back of the lamp.

I had that happen several years ago, so I'm going to give you what I can remember... Smiley under the left side cover where the relays are, there is a connector plug that the lights run through, that was corroded and that was the problem..cleaned it up and everything worked fine... cooldude

There is no relay in the headlight circuit of the Standard or Tourer.

Fudgie, are your tail light and meters dark and your accessory terminal not working?  If so, the problem is with the IG2 circuit of your ignition switch.  If not that, I would check things in the following order:
1. Check headlight fuse.
2. Change headlight bulb.
3. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between the green wire at the headlight socket and the negative battery terminal.

Steps 4 and 5 with the ignition on:
4. Check for power to the blue/White wire in the headlight case.  It takes power from the start button to the high/low switch.  If no power, check blue/red wire to the start button.
5. Check the blue (high) and white (low) wires for power from the high/low switch to the headlight.

OK, but is it a higher wattage? Personally I don't think that's your problem, I've had both hi & lo go out almost simultaneous, just doesn't usually happen that way. Either a blown bulb or a gummed up hi/lo switch on the left side....or both.

Fuse is good and working on getting the b'wing off and check the bulb. Starter switch will be next.

Everything else works, tail lights, brakes, turn sig, all my acc, and kury volt meter is green.

Headed out to the garage now.
