HAHA
I didn't even think of it in any way but an innocent guessing game.  I must be slipping...

Rainmaker, I think you were with me in spirit!  It rained alot friday and I learned that you can't rely on 20 year old waterproofing to keep your stuff dry.  I ended up camping out in a hotel room in Leesville and spending 3 bucks on drying my sleeping bag.  Saturday was good, rained all night and Sunday was cold but ended up being a great day as well.
I'm wondering if there would be any interest in a Bed and Breakfast weekend ride.  There are ALOT of nice roads and sites to see around Natchitoches, La...I meant to get a picture of one...a yellow sign with the familair squiggly of curves and the sign below said "Next 17 miles".  I've never "organized" such an event but I could see us booking an entire bed and breakfast (poor saps don't know what they are in for...)  Ride up Saturday, hit some roads on the way there, Bed, Breakfast and hit other roads on a mostly different return path...
Thoughts?

Isn't that where they filmed "Steel Magnolias"?

Make a proposal - see who signs up.

Natchitoches is, indeed, where they filmed Steel Magnolias.  I'm not sure after hosting Darryl Hannah, Julia Roberts, Olympia Dukakis and Sally Fields that we can raise any sort of ruckus they ain't seen yet, but I'm willing to try.  Smiley  Assuming it doesn't fall on a rugby weekend, you can count me in.

It is Steel Magnolias city...and boy do they not let you forget it...still.  I went to school there from 95-2000.  Its actually changed since then.
I'll make the proposal...see who is interested...seems like a good idea.  How do I go forward?  Its a chicken and the egg issue...booking a B&B for a weekend first or getting commitment first then being unable to book the B&B...arg!

My only doubts are that I am a frugal type of guy and find that most B & B's are on the pricey side.  Find one reasonable and I might join in.

Pick a weekend you want to do this and then decide on the B&B.  See if you get a special rate, then give everyone a code word and contact info for the B&B.  The B&B will guarantee the price for a period of time and may block the rooms for a shorter period of time.  Make no commitments on your own.  Make sure you can cancel reservations and what is the last day you can do so without penalty.

If people reserve rooms, then you keep your reservation.   If they don't, get out before you are stuck with paying something.

That's my thoughts.

Andrew:
My suggestion would be to come talk about it tomorrow night, see how many people are interested in person, hash out some ideas, then post it on the board.

Tomorrow is the Valk meet-up, isn't it?
I'm working tomorrow evening so I won't be able to make it.  I'm going to start a poll on here to begin with.  The beauty of the location is that the DFW folks could come too, its 4.5 hours to there from either Houston or Dallas...

Hi all little slow getting up to speed on the new board and all, but if ya'll are interested in touring riding around Natchitoches area could base from my house.  Plenty of parking for bikes, sleeping space, 45 minutes from Natch with some good roads.  Ride through the plantations a;ong cane river then into Natch.  It's a pretty ride, used to do it when i was into cycling.

Anyway would enjoy hosting a gathering if anyone interested
