Before you spend, go out and put a 2 x 4 under the kickstand (to almost center up), then sit on the bike and move your legs/feet around to get a feel for where you'd like them to be. THEN spend to try to get them there.
On two IS's I have both the Kury 4050s (best clamp on the market) clamped underneath (with IS scoops cut off), and a set of Kury Quick Clamps to Small ISO pegs (with stirrups) on the engine guards at 3 and 9 O'clock (unfortunately, Kury sells this as a kit, but only with 1 1/4" clamps, but you need 1 1/8" clamps for the guards). My 4050 pegs are positioned almost exactly where my pegs on the engine guards are, and the latter setup is cheaper.**
Pegs clamped to the guards will move no matter how tight they are if you really lean on them (but not if you don't put big force on them), the 4050s can be stood on without moving.
Also, the 4050s folded up will not hit in a tip-over, but pegs on the engine guard may hit in a tip-over. The 4050s are tighter to the bike than pegs clamped to the guards.
Also, I set my HWY pegs up so I can have my feet on them with bent knees, or stretch my legs out straight with my heels over the pegs. When you change your foot position, you also change the pressure points on your butt and low back, and this is good for long riding days.
** Here is what I mean, most who have the 4050s end up positioning them right on or near the guards (like in the pic)(me too), and it is cheaper to just clamp pegs right to the guards (maybe an inch farther forward).
