Last year I got rid of all the vacuum lines. I had done the smog deal many years ago. But, finally, got rid of all the lines when i put in a manuel fuel petcock and electronic fuel shut off.  At that time i also put on brand new vacuum caps.
NOW, ALL THE CAPS, ALL BUT FELL OFF! No telling how long they been leaking vacuum.
Is it the neat?
What's up with that? Is there a brand of vacuum caps that'll hold up? I put solid rubber ones on and paid just a bit more for them.
Thanks ahead of time for the advice.

I think the OEM ones work well.

People take a short bit of vacuum hose and RTV a suitable
small bolt in the end of it, and use that.

The nipple on the back of the intakes is threaded on,
people replace it with a bolt, that works...

Several people here also recommend "Red Eye Tech vacuum caps"

I do as Mike.

A short length of quality line with a nice cap screw in the end then pushed over the nipples will hold up for years and isn't too noticeable.

On mine I install cap screws and just use the original nipples if I decide to check the sync.

I'm sure this will be poo pood but I was given this idea by another member and i like it. Go to the hardware store and get some vinyl thread protectors, you can get a pocket full for a couple dollars.  They fit real tight don't dry out and crack and its a nice clean look. I don't remember the size, i think it was a #8 or #10.

When I first got my bike, I looked around town for vacuum caps... I got these vinyl ones
from Advance...

They seemed to work, but after a few years they got hard. I couldn't tell that they were
leaking, and they weren't obviously cracked. Last winter, when I replaced them with
OEM caps, and also replaced the vacuum like to #6 which had also gotten hard, my
bike ran noticeably better...

Now I see rubber vacuum caps on the Advance web site... might not be in the store, though...
I wonder if they'd be better than vinyl... ?

As cheep as the thread protectors are I just figured would just change them annually as part of my spring start up. Five minutes and a dollar or two and you know they are good for the season.

My plan was to "leave them on until I could tell they were leaking or cracking"... spending $1.59
and 10 minutes to change them out every year is a much better plan.

I use a stainless steel bolt and sealing washer that ends all of that stuff. I  put the vacuum nipples in a bag and put them in the battery box in case I need to set the carbs.

What size screw and what material?  I would think brass with a little pipe dope or anti-seize would be best.

Its been so long, I can't remember the size. Its easy to remove one to match up. Brass would work, but, I use stainless allen head with a dab of never-seize.

IS THERE ANY HARM IN REMOVING VACUMN LINES, EXCEPT #6 TO PETCOCK, PLGGING PORTS AND JUST LEAVING REMAINDER OF "SMOG STUFF"?
