when I wrecked my '99 standard the plastic part that seals the rear hub pushed away on the top. Can that just be pushed back and refilled with oil? My Foster son is the wrench under my supervision as I just had a hip replaced.

Sure.

I think that happens a lot of time.

Also, it's probably less than 50% effective.

Not completely sure as to what it is supposed to do.

There's some sealant and a seal you can see in this picture:

There's the big black plastic ring you can see in this picture:

Are any of these "the plastic part that seals the rear hub"?

It is my pinion cup taker-offer. The flange won't spin. The case can't spin around. The only
thing left is the nut on the pinion cup. The best part is using it to tighten the nut
back with a torque wrench...

Cool.  Hope you don't have that patented.   Wink

So does it just push back into place like I think it does? We almost have it ready to run, and since I get on from the left, stop leaning on the left, and only use my right leg for rear brake... My right hip was replaced. So next week I am hoping to get on her and do a short ride. Two weeks is long enough after surgery, right? I'll have my foster son riding next to me on his shadow.

Not that version, but the version with two uprights, so you don't have to
reverse the drive for tightening, is patented  coolsmiley ...

If it's the dust ring (big black thing), then this part has locking tabs that engage into the final drive by rotating the ring.  The ring is then held in position by a single bolt.

Thanks. We will try that. Should have her started and running tomarrow. (Saturday). Will be spring before I can replace all the purty parts, and fuel tank.
