Lane got six years with the Florida Dept of Corrections.  He  will serve 85% here in Florida, that is about 5.1 years. DL revoked for life.

Now we know the value of a man's life here in Florida.  Sad

I"m glad he got something. I figured with all the delays that it was a smokescreen which meant he would get off completely.   Glad he manned up and admitted he screwed up.

It nice that he manned up, but why did it have to take almost 3 years for him to say:

“I wanted to stand before the Morelock family, to my friends and my family, to the court and the public and say I am responsible for what happened. I don't think it matters if I was going 68 miles an hour or 50 miles an hour. I was in the wrong lane of traffic and I killed Gerry Morelock with a 7,000 pound truck,” Lane said.

It looks like to me that he was saying what he did to try and mitigate whatever sentence he was going to get.

South Dakota is a lot more lenient.

What was it the former Governor got on his running a stop sign killing a Biker?

If I remember right, he served NO TIME.

Don't even think he lost his license over it either.

I'm still waiting for "Karma" to catch up to that one...

In fairness to Mr. Lane (for what it's worth, not necessarily for what he deserves) he was most likely under advice from his legal counsel to make no public admission of responsibility until after sentencing.
