Dragonriders, Several weeks ago I changed the alternator on my bike (2001 Standard).  I have ridded it several times since then.  Yesterday, I went out to plug in my Battery Tender cause it has gotten rather cold up here in PA.  I keep the outlet for the Battery Tender tucked in the open area behind the engine and above the alternator.  I pulled the outlet out and plugged it in; then noticed this laying on the floor.  I have no idea where it came from.  It is not the small wire that leads to the back of the alternator; that's still there and connected.  The bike runs fine.  Any help would be most appreciated.

So, as I suspected I am too dumb to get the photo into the post.  Tried Photostash with no success.  Apparently my attempt at using Flicker was unsuccesfull also.  Hopefully, someone will be able to follow the link and give me a hand.

Yeah, that works, thanks for the assist.  And yes, my bike is filthy dirty, ha, ha ! Decided that riding was way more important than cleaning this summer.

that is the wire that goes from the plug above the swing arm to the alternator.
apparently your new alternator came with that wire and you dropped that one on the floor and forgot about it.

Yes, that was my first thought, that it was the small wire from the alternator to the connector bundle above the swing arm.  But I installed the alternator weeks ago and simply do not remember if the new alternator came with a new wire or not.  In any case, the small wire is still connected to the alternator and to the bundle above the swing arm.  I guess it is possible that a new wire came with the new alternator-which I used-and then forgot to remove the old, existing wire and it took this long to work its way off the bike.  I hate old age (67).  Didn't mind going grey, didn't mind going bald but this loosing my mind is miserable.  If no one else has any suggestions, I will assure this is what has occurred and stop worrying about it.  Thanks !

I noticed your original post of a photo link had the [img] around it. Keep in mind, when using one of the off-line photo products like Photobucket, etc., you don't use the icon that is used for Photostash. The off-line uses their own image copy/paste approach and that's all you have to do;  paste!
