Had a great time this past weekend at the Texas Ride In.  Came in Friday afternoon and unpacked before heading over to ground zero at the Peachtree…

We stayed at the cabins across South Grape Creek from Luckenbach and the Harvest Classic, very nice!

After Friday night dinner at the Buffalo Nickel, some tire kicking and then a little sleep, we headed out to places known for a fun filled Saturday ride!  Activities included riding some awesome Hill Country roads on a beautiful day, shopping, eating, visiting the Harvest Classic and riding some awesome Hill Country roads on a beautiful day…

My wife Dena got to ride this time which is rare these days due to our crazy schedules…

That's her in the mirror!

There were plans for an "aggressive" group and a "mellow" group, but for some reason we all wanted to be mellow this year, so we split up into two groups.  I was chosen to lead the second group.  We saw plenty of bikes out and about riding some awesome Hill Country roads on a beautiful day and it wasn't long before we came upon another group…

Wait!  That's our group…er…our first group!

(Maybe my lead was not "mellow" enough.)

First stop: Blanco…

Just so happened that Saturday was Market Days in Blanco…

Plenty of shopping was had!

After wallets were emptied, we headed towards Sisterdale for stop number two and some Sisterdale BBQ…

Did I mention that the roads were awesome!  There was very little traffic and we just cruised.  It seemed like only a few minutes before we landed at the Sisterdale BBQ…

Hmmm…maybe we're a few bikes short of a full group!  Yep!  it was not long before I got a text from Hayhauler wondering where we had turned off.  It seems that I had managed to loose half my group!  I guess I "zoned out" while riding some awesome Hill Country roads on a beautiful day…it happens!

The BBQ was really good and the folks running the place were really nice at the restaurant.  (They're only open the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month.)

Satiated, we headed out to stop number three…the Harvest Classic…with my now half group.  We parked our Valkyries over at the cabins and walked across the South Grape Creek bridge to the Rally.  The trials riders were going at it by then…

It was not long before we found the lost half of our group already enjoying the Harvest Classic…

The Harvest Classic did not disappoint…

Honda had a presence…

…and ya know, ya never know what you'll see…

Came across plenty of friends at the Classic and we enjoyed visiting with them plus viewing all the great bikes.  Afterwords, Dena and I cleaned ourselves up then headed into Fredericksburg for some dinner with my sister and family who happened to be in town celebrating her birthday.  We then headed back to ground zero to resume some tire kicking, telling tall tails and to enjoy some late night camaraderie with our Valkyrie family.

After a late breakfast in Fredericksburg, we headed for home to Driftwood.  It was then that we realized that we had not slept just a whole lot the previous two days.

Naps were happily taken!

Indeed, good times were had!

Thanks for the pictures and report Charlie, I wish I could have enjoyed that adventure with everyone else. Your pictures are always fantastic. Hayhauler texted me a picture of the Court House in Blanco, thanks Jimmy. All of you gentlemen are great to know.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Good times, indeed.  875 miles of smiles, great folks, fantastic weather, wonderful roads to ride, antique and specialty bikes plus trials competitions at Luckenbach, and imported liquid refreshments provided by the one and only TP, delivered to DFW by chauffeur and passenger, and shuttled the last 260 (well, it only took me 320 miles to go 260!) miles of deep backroads on the back of a bumblebee.

Looking forward to the next time!   cooldude
