for those of you with the center stand on your bikes. can you tell me will it work with a ct on the rear. meaning will not be rubbed by the tire ( 205/60/16 ) thinking of getting one but do not want to waste $450 if it will rube. also any complaints about having on on the bike.

I've had the two mounted together for quite a few years with no problems. Some riders feel they're dangerous, claiming the footpeg for lowering the stand will hit in a tight turn and cause the bike to flip. IF...you have OEM pipes or similar and the stop adjusted up under the left exhaust, it will never even come close to hitting. Your factory foot pegs and engine guard will hit long before the center stand footpeg. I've purposely(with others helping obviously) laid my bike over to see what hits first. Result, you'll dump the bike long before that footpeg hits the ground. If you have aftermarket pipes such as Cobras or 2-Bros, it's possible you have to adjust the stop lower which may cause clearance problems. However, there are quite of few with those pipes and a center stand that have never been bothered with ground clearance. Personally, I wouldn't have the Valk without it. I haven't used my lift to service the rear end since I installed it.

Well crap, when I hit Post or Preview it didn't take for a long time. So, I "copied" the contents, hit the "back" arrow and came in again, then hit Post again....and it just sat there staring back at me. Finally it posted both times giving a duplicate posting. Just ignore me....I'm used to that anyway.  cooldude

I ASSUME SCOTT OR SOMEONE CAME TO MY DEFENSE AND DELETED THE DUPLICATE.  TANKS!   Wink

thanks alot John, my pipes are OEM. would love to be able to set the bike upright when doing work on it that does not require the lift. dont want to spend the arm and leg for the center stand if unable to use with the ct on back. and of topic. been having trouble getting to the post page this morning. after posting my request every thing went wacky or i would have responded sooner.

John, i noticed on your bike you have the same OEM saddle bag protector rails i have. did you install the grabrails that come with the centerstand? or do you use the bag protector rail to lift?

The saddlebag guards are a bit low to grab when putting it on the centerstand. I always use the grab rail provided, and a note of advice; after installation of the centerstand, don't press down on the footpeg with your toe, you'll eventually tear or pull a calf muscle(don't ask). Put your foot on it just in front of the heel, takes the pressure off the calf. I found if the passenger pegs are still mounted, they are in the way so I removed them since I'm only a solo rider. Gives easier access to the centerstand footpeg.

One of the best things I have added to my IS. Leans to far on the side stand to work on or clean, and I change tires and do rear maintenance with it. I usually leave my bike on the center stand when its overnight. Can be heavy to lift so I roll the rear tire up on a 2 by 6 then the bike is super easy to lift. Never had any trouble of any kind and I am a dark sider also.  Firefighter

thanks firefighter, got one ordered. ( cost of arm, leg, and about 10 pints of blood ) but figure it will be worth it in the long run. me and my dad take a long trip every spring ( 4000 to 5000 miles ) and knock on wood have been lucky no flat or other trouble has happened. will be nice to store up for winter in upright position to work on.
