Okay this may sound crazy or maybe it's just me. I bought my second Valk a year ago and the tank always seemed larger to me than the first tank. I finally got around to checking in to it and I find on line my model GL1500CD shows the same fuel quantity as the Interstate model? Seeing this I partially lifted the tank and i find there is a fuel probe in the tank!!! Now I want to know if it is possible to buy an after market gauge to go with this.   Cheesy  Anyone have info on this?? Thanks friends.

bought a moteseen fuel guage, its a minuture exact match to the OEM tech and speedo and its plug and play

I've only heard of the CF model with the IS tank, so I feel someone else swapped the tanks.

Thanks for the info on the gauge, I will check it out. As for the tank everywhere I check on the web tells me the same thing. That the deluxe model I have comes with the larger tank. Either way i am very happy to find the larger tank.   cooldude

I have a '01 CD model. It has the 5.3 gallon tank. I think you got lucky that someone put an I/S tank on it. They go for pretty big $. cooldude

Autometer sells a fuel gauge.  Its a 2 1/6" gauge....a bit larger than motsons gauge and matches the valk's gauges perfect.

I just bought a couple online from Summit Racing.

Hey Scott, where you been old friend? Re. the tank, if it has the sender mounted on the bottom of the tank then it's an I/S unit. As for there being a "deluxe" model, no....not really. I've had an Autometer gas gauge on mine for about ten years with nary a problem. When you set it up regardless of which one you buy, make sure the bike is upright or you'll get an erroneous reading(or erogenous, depending on how big a kick you get out of it).  2funny
