do you have to replace the rubber washers every tire change, and if so, where do you get those washers. Like Ricky D. said, if you change the Oem stems every tire change you shouldn't have a problem with the Oem stem. I assume the rubber washers on the Myers stems also wear and the nut might loosen, etc. I just ordered 2 last night.

They last a long time... after a few years and numerous tires, I changed
mine out "just because", and didn't tighten the new one enough and had to break the
bead with clamps and tighten it more... if it ain't broke  Wink ... you could
order a double set of the metal ones and have extra rubber grommets
on hand...

I think it was your pics of somebody breaking the bead with clamps. I coulda order a bunch of them but was simply peeved with the shipping cost. Figured by the time I need new stems, there'll be a more sensible vendor that sells them. Odd thing, the faster shipping method is a bit cheaper, $15 vrs. $17.

I think ordering a pile of them doesn't change the high shipping charge much or at all.

Understood. The shipping cost remains the same irregardless of how many in a single shipment becuz the individual stems weigh ounces, but still the principle. On a related note, I went and bought the HF tire changer/ MC attachment. What is the diameter of the vertical rod you need that replaces the HF pipe?

To answer the original question, no, they don't.  They last longer than any of us have tested.

The problem with the OEMs is not just the rubber getting dried.  It is that they are rubber in a place that by nature flexes, and even moreso if the rider isn't careful to support it while measuring air pressure or inflating.

I buy mine at Patchboy for about five bucks each.  Yes, I could replace the OEMs each tire change at eleven bucks each but Mama just didn't raise me that way.  The metal stems are superior.

I went to a local business that provides supplies to tire shops.  They had the valve stems I was looking for for 2 or 3 bucks apiece, and no shipping.  Even $10 apiece would have been worth it for the convenience.

I buy mine a dozen at a time, from Amazon, sold by Rocky Mountain Power sports, $2 each.

Just bought 4 myself at Rocky Mountain ATV. 2 bucks each and $7 shipping. Dunno why, but I just can't pay more for S&H than the parts I'm getting.

I bought mine from Patchboy several years ago, but lately I've seen local shops stocking them.  I recently saw the metal stems in 2 Denver area shops, both selling for $6.  That's close enough to online prices for me.

On mine, I removed the top "L" portion and replaced the HF center pin with a 3/4-inch rod. It doesn't move or bend ....  Cool .... and makes it much easier to walk around the tire changer while installing or removing tires.

Just want to point out that the OP is looking at the Jake Wilson stems and they are tightened on the outside of the rim versus the Patchboy's. Your experience, Mike, is exactly why I like the Jake Wilson design better.

¾-inch, then. I'll try vith the L-bracket removed.

yes, not the Patchboys, but instead the Meyers. Btw, the stems arrived today. I had selected the 2nd Day shipment option becuz oddly it was $2 cheaper less. And becuz it was '2nd day,' it was delivered via UPS. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of waiting around for the UPS delivery person. So, now it's Monday. FedEx will redeliver to an affiliate address, Kinko's etc., and hold the item there for free, but UPS charges $5 for the same service.
