Hello

Has anyone got any information about putting a reverse gear on a standard Valk.  A friend of mine has told me that the mechanics might not be too difficult to do this, but the electronics will be more complicated.  I understand that all the Valks that were exported to Japan were all reverse models, but it is proving difficult to find one in the UK.

The gear box casing, will the aperture for the gear shift have been blocked off or will it need a new casing?

I have also got a Goldwing so I know how much easier it is with a reverse.

I've also got a GW GL1500 with reverse, but haven't even tried it to see if it works. I've also recently looked at buying a GW motor so I could pull the reverse off and mount it in a Valkyrie.

There have been the odd post here about it, but I've never done a search, something along the lines of it's been done, but I found no details.

From what I've seen, it is a rear case swap, and mounting a cable lever on the bike. Haven't looked to see how the lever is mounted.

hi gordonv,
a pal of mine has just pulled the back end off a gl1500 but not too sure about the electrics, as I`m only 5ft 4" tall (or short in this case) I could do with a reverse on the bike,, cheers

There are several threads on this in the tech archives. Just go the tech board first page and use the search. Most people have determined the price to switch engines to add reverse is very expensive, and not worth the effort cooldude
