What a loaded question!! Cheesy Yeah, walmart carries batteries for our bike. I went with a glass mat for my 99 Interstate, and have no problems in 3 years. I'm not sure if they carry them at Walmart but you could ask. I'm sure you could find a standard type there though.

I buy a new battery at Walmart every 3 years even though they are still going strong......thats the lifespan I believe.......also saves the alternator.  Just be sure to put a FULL charging on it with a 1or2 amp trickle before putting it into service

I would say buy a battery from WalMart at your own risk. Cheesy  I know some people have had good luck, guess I'm not so lucky. Undecided  I just recently had 2 fail.  One...less that one year and the other in less than 2 years. tickedoff  Went back to genuine Yuasa...only about $10 more. cooldude  Get it from a bike shop and not a battery "store".  The originals lasted 7 & 8 years.  Worth the extra $.

Steve, since we live in the same state, I hate to say this here, BUT.

I don't think you properly charge your new battery as recommended,,,,,  You can't buy it & slap it in, it needs a 2 or 3 amp overnight charge before installation.  The seller doesn't tell you that, except maybe Jim at Cycle Clinic.

I have used Wally World batteries for quite awhile & get the life I expected,  Rex has Wally World batteries in his 5 bikes, except the Chopper.   It is still running whatever was put in when produced in Texas.

I will admit, I just put a Yuasa in MGM about a month ago.

That was because Wally World did not have one in stock.....

When I pulled the Wally World battery I set them side by side & looked at all markings, manufacturing dimples, cable mounting bolts & etc.  They looked alike except for the decals..

I'll bet ya $10.00 to a donut Yuasa makes the Wally World battery......

I replaced my original Yuasa in 2006, it was eight years old. I replaced with Wal-Mart, as this was a Sunday, of course.
No problems cooldude

I'd go with a Yuasa.  They seem to work very well.  What is the broken bridge looking thing in the background of that beautiful bike?

Russ,
You need to stop making assumptions!  Who said I "just slapped it in" the bike?  I know the proper procedure for new batteries.  They got at least a 14 hr charge before putting into service.

Yuasa doesn't make EverStart batteries aka WalMart.  Johnson Controls makes the batteries sold at WalMart.  Yuasa makes there own.
Matter of fact, I got my second Yuasa battery...in as many months because of the Walmart battery failures....from Cycle Clinic.  I was greeted with an attitude the first time I walked through his door, and the second and third times were no different.  Laura picked up on it also, so I'm not imagining things.  I guess that guy doesn't want or need my business, that's OK, 'cause I can't think of any reason to go back there.
I'll take your $10.

Mine just failed after 5 years in the AZ heat. I would have gotten another one but some friends at a local bike shop gave me a 1/2 price deal on another one. Couldn't pass it up.

The Valk uses a 12 amp-hour battery with 200 cold cranking amps (CCA). Yet the Yuasa battery for the 1500 Wing is a 21 amp-hour battery with 350 CCA, and the engines are basically the same. I've never been able to figure why the Valk is expected to work as good with a battery slightly less the 50% smaller/stronger than the Wing. Granted, the Wing ususally has more lights, etc., but the Valk is no slouch either when it comes to lights, and all of us add more it seems. So, my recommendation would be to lean toward the size used for the Wing, and if you can find it at Wally World...so much the better.

Just my 2 cents....on sale. Wink

and it doesn't say Yuasa on it but made in the same place.  Like everyone said, be sure to charge it for several hours on low charge rate.

You said you bought it, took it home & I think it was the Burple bike you put it in,  good buddy.........   I can't find the post now, any way that was the way I read it.

You can have the $10, on the next ride.

Reread my post.    I did not say WalMart (Ever Start) made Yuasa batteries...

As far are Jim goes, he has treated me right for about 35 or more years.  I started using his services when his shop was on University @ about 12th Street, business was upstairs & work shop downstairs. Can't see why he would treat ya any different than me or any other customer.

This battery is made by Yuasa, has 260 CCA, and is the same size as OEM. The Goldwing battery is a larger size I believe. I haven't found a higher capacity battery that will fit a Valk without modifications to the battery box.

Dont know about Wally but any automotive shop that carries Interstate or Euromotion batteries can get you one. They may not have it in stock but can call their suppliers and have them deliver one usually within a few hours.

I bought one from Interstate and when I opened the box the battery inside was Yuasa.  Same label and everything.
